Who should replace Chuck ‘Milk Toast’ Schumer? I don’t know. Anyone except Dick ‘Tearful Apology’ Durbin. I like Sheldon ‘Tell It Like It Is’ Whitehouse…
Honestly, almost any other Dem would be preferable. Booker is in the #4 leadership position and @amyklobuchar.com is in #3 leadership position. #2 is Dick Durbin behind Schumer.
Klobuchar or Booker should 100% challenge Schumer for Minority leader.
I get the frustration but you will run out of Dems if that is your criteria. In order to be leader in Senate you need the the majority vote of sitting Senators. Both are in leadership so both have good shot and neither of them is Schumer.
Senate leadership requires trust, knowledge, & curiosity. Colleagues & constituents must trust that you are curious about why a law is needed, know how laws work, & that you can be trusted to have the moral fortitude to stand for the principles of justice with mercy & an economy built on compassion.
100% agree with everything you said except unfortunately, constituents don’t get a vote on Senate leadership. That is why we are currently stuck with Chuck.
Booker is talking a lot now, but he doesn't have a history of anything outside politics. Warren has a legal background and the the skill of an educator to herd the cats of the Democratic Party.

Totally agree that Dems need to elevate younger leaders! But the Constitution requires senators to be at least 30. So literally no one born in this century is eligible right now.
Unfortunately Senate privileges and rules require a pliant, relatively weak Leader. The House is structured just the opposite. Don’t look to the Senate for leadership in resisting Trump’s rolling coup.
I have designed a poster for the upcoming HANDS OFF! protests on Saturday, April 5th. If anyone wants a printable file of it, please message me : ) Find out more about the protests here: https://www.mobilize.us/handsoff/
As long as it's not Fetterman (lol), I think pretty much anyone would be an improvement over Chuckles. Would be nice to see a sort of fresh/new face. But most importantly, someone smart, strategic, savvy, willing to stand up and fight and to be an actual leader.
I would need to see more than one impressive filibuster. Doing this doesn't equate to leadership, and he hasn't been very fierce up to now. I think there are other options to consider.
Well they're what we have. We have to stop letting the perfect be enemy of the good. Compared with any Congress in 65 years I remember, this D lineup would look stellar. It seems bad because THIS time is bad and demands more, but what we have now needs our wind under their wings to fly.
Chill. These aren't mutually exclusive. We people need politicians; politicians need us. Divided, we all fail. Take lessons from your grandfather and my father, who with allied soldiers beat the Nazis and liberated a German concentration camp. They won together: free people, pols, resistance, allies
Amy Walter from non biased COOK REPORT Think Tank on @pbsnews.org was asked SHOULD WE TAKE trump SERIOUSLY ON A 3rd term? Amy: There is not much pushback for any US CONST violations trump does so take him SERIOUSLY he WILL try to get away with this! https://youtu.be/-dqp9lud7B0?feature=shared
Charlotte, I am a fan of yours and I hope an ally. I follow your lead in identity’s I wish to amplify. I also feel that I must ask you for guidance in your identification of resources in the Senate who are allies. However, I am also in angst for you looking for perfection. Schumer is a no, but who?
Yea but let’s not give credit to the opportunist, let’s leave that praise for the AOCs and Jasmin Crocketts in our party. If we elevate one of the donors class puppets we will keep getting the same shit.
I still like this fight! I expect to see every one of these Democratic Senators besides Schumer and the other capitulators to do the same damn thing!!! The later must step aside, take heed or get the hell out! I’m grateful for Senator Booker’s showing tonight.
I think Sen Warren @warren.senate.gov is next in leadership line (disregarding the lame whip Durbin). Love Booker, but I think Warren is best of all of them at communicating.
Yes! Cory Booker would be a huge improvement. Also, Jon Ossoff, Raphael Warnock, Tammy Duckworth, Richard Blumenthall, Mark Kelly, Adam Schiff, Ron Wyden would all be better as minority leader than Schumer. I’m all for experience but not at the expense of fresh ideas and the will/stamina to fight.
Cory Booger screams and yells about how big a hell hole Newark is and when he was their mayor he did absolutely nothing to fix it. The Dems are full of activists who don’t know how to govern once they get elected.
Yes!! 1 million percent!!!! That money went into a black hole and he did nothing to hold himself accountable. He became a social media darling before it was a thing and everyone rubber stamped him up to higher office.
No one from NY, MA and CA. I live in one of these states and have lived in another one of these states. @murray.senate.gov @senatorheinrich.bsky.social @chrismurphyct.bsky.social @warnock.senate.gov @schatz.bsky.social @baldwin.senate.gov We need new candidates not status quo
Why exactly? I mean, he seems to like playing the same meaningless games. What's the real difference?
Instead of actually doing the work of holding up Sen. business by saying no to UC, fighting cloture votes, putting blanket holds on every nominee/ and not voting for them... & using Sen rules to...
This war, which is what it is, won’t be won by taking the high road or killing them with kindness. Booker is too soft to do the types of things that need to be done to combat this administration.
I’ve would’ve said that a few months ago, but he voted *for* several of those horrid recent nominees. So did Klobuchar and Bennett. Really disappointing.
I like Patty. She is my Senator. She is articulate and pays attention and speaks up sometimes. But she is too nice - more like an elementary school teacher. We need more of a middle or high school teacher attitude at least. A junk yard dog would be even better.
That would be Tammy Duckworth! It’s a hard job and can make them lose popularity, here wrangling votes they are destined to lose, so someone with a lot of fight might be it.
She would be on my shortlist too. This just isn’t the time for playing nice. We need a strong leader. Someone who can keep our own team in line yet TOE the line against these assholes. (In the nicest possible way, of course. LOL)
Booker is just a younger Schumer. When he was being considered for a presidential run all the shiny new aura he had around him was an illusion and he was very much a corporate centrist Democrat at heart and we don't need more of those leading the party.
I like @captmarkkelly.bsky.social Sen Mark Kelly... But Booker is a good choice as well. Schumer has destroyed his own credibility. I don't trust him. @schumer.senate.gov is only worried about his tax cut for his $81 million...
You have TERRIFIC senators! I'm usually multitasking, yet every time I see Warnock on TV, I'm glued to every word. He has the gift for the pulpit, sooo needed in leadership now. Ossoff @ossoff.bsky.social too, but we really need Warnock @warnock.senate.gov speaking out more. He relates.
Agreed, either of them. Ossoff has a busy time ahead of him with the mid-terms, minority leader could work on a re-election resume. Warnock's a fighter, I think back to the anti-ads that played in the Savannah market when he ran against Loeffler, his team understood the assignment.
Right? I like @whitehouse.senate.gov and @chrismurphyct.bsky.social a lot, but at their core, their default is white bro culture hungry to related to R colleagues. Women and racial/LGBTetc minorities are rightly skeptical of MSWM and accustomed to working 10x harder to get 1/2 as far.
Understood, but we need someone who can win in a country that is still overwhelmingly white, heterosexual and "Christian." I'm a white woman in a family full absolutely wonderful white men! I voted for Hillary and Kamala, as did the men in my family. Tragically, neither won.
I think New Jersey would give you an argument there.
Maybe Beto O'Rourke could be persuaded to move north.
There's also a Kennedy nephew who was a much liked congressman
It’s a job that often makes them less popular, whipping votes is messy. They might not all want it but I wonder if it would help or hurt Jon Ossoff’s chances next year in GA. It would be a sea change to elect a freshmen instead of handing it over based on seniority.
Yes, all that. The dinosaurs aren’t going to just give way, tho. They’ll obstruct momentum from you get members. It’s really corporate democrats keeping us from winning. From changing.
Booker is doing the damn thang with the filibuster, but he has proven to be in too deep with the mega donors to remain consistent. Not cut for leadership position, but loving the fight he’s showing today!
The only thing I don’t like about the Booker fillibuster is Chuck Schumer’s effort to jump on a bandwagon that he failed to even imagine, much less lead.
I’d be very happy if Corey Booker became Minority Leader. Talk about moral authority. When he was a mayor, he ran into a burning building to save people. He helped people dig their cars out after a monstrous snow storm. He knows joy. And sorrow. And the bar we must strive to reach as a country.
I’d hail to Bernie! Although he’s old, he’s still a fighter and his brain still seems to work perfectly fine. For endurance tho, no one can beat Booker I don’t think!

That said, I'm thrilled to see Booker doing this!

I'm so tired of the games.
We need a wartime consigliere.

I also think Mark Kelly would be very good. 💙🇺🇸
He voted with the rest of the Nasty Nine and Schumer.

*Does the minority leader have to be a member of the Senate?
Good follow.
Look at her voting record.
And she said, "Pete Hegseth is a fucking liar."
That woman is tough as nails and so, so smart.
