Am finishing The Women by Kristin Hannah and also the Judi Dench memoir, Shakespeare The Man Who Pays the Rent. Am about to start The Marriage Portrait by Maggie O'Farrell for book club.
My first book of the year will be The Brothers Karamazov but I finished all my end of the year review commitments so I am starting that early. #BookSky 📚💙
All Sorts of Lives: Katherine Mansfield and the art of risking everything by Claire Harman
Brilliant - a mixture of biography and literary criticism. Mansfield was a brilliant writer and - I'm now coming to realise thanks to this book - a remarkable woman.
The latest Palin diaries - so far a fascinating insight into the last knockings of the 20th century from a very specific, superbly media-elite-connected, perspective.
Since finishing Hercule Poirot’s Christmas by Agatha Christie on Boxing Day I have been struggling to pick a book to read 🤦🏼♀️. Tried a few things, read a few of Shakespeare’s sonnets and nothing has gelled. Going to try Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen see if that helps me relax
I'm writing a review for Goodreads. I loved the first half! But then it strayed too far from the original. Still 4 stars, but I would have loved to hear Jim's thoughts, especially about wretched Tom Sawyer, during the last episode of Huck Finn at Aunt Sally's place.
Just finished
Stone Yard Devotional by Charlotte Wood

Loved it but mind the trigger warnings.
But we must have added 30+ books to the TBR pile this Christmas of which probably 15 came from Bert’s ❤️📚
