I wouldn't touch Dyson and I've tried bagless and they were a disaster. I have a Miele and it's brilliant.

I listened to a great podcast about vacuum cleaners (I am old) and the relevant expert was scathing about some of the Dyson designs, particularly the bagless thing. It's apparently not healthy to breathe in all that collected dust when you empty it into the bin

Dysons are actually terrible. They don't work unless your house is already clean.

Just feeling compelled to say there's a Miele vacuum in our house that we bought over 20 years ago. We just replaced the power cord. Other than changing bags when they fill up, that's it.

Honestly THIS RIGHT HERE 👆 Like the Brother printer that Just Works, the Miele vacuum cleaner is better, cheaper and more reliable than the Dyson. We got rid of our exercise-in-frustration Dyson and got a Miele instead - highly recommended!

I have to confess that I had a Vax beforehand. For years we had a good Vax bagless, but when I moved out I got a new one, and discovered that they had shittified their product line. The device looked similar but was terrible. The Miele followed and it has not disappointed.

I was actually let down when she threw the old Vax out (the filter had clogged - as they do - and instead of cleaning or replacing it she threw it out. Not one for analysis of a problem). But it had fallen foul of EU regulations on efficiency, like Dyson, and Vax never rolled with it.

Not cheap the day you buy one maybe but a bargain if you look at cost of ownership. They last forever, or in my case 20+ years with very sheddy dogs and many cats.

I have one of these guys snorting up all the dust in my home for ages now. It’s incredibly basic, the tubes friction fit with no locking mechanism, the cord has no spring loaded rewind but the motor is strong and it’s built like a tank.
