The white folks in the replies trying to insist OP is wrong is exactly why y’all should stop talking about woke. You don’t know what it means. And when someone Black tries to tell you what it means, he’s accused of mansplaining a lifelong activist. Just absolute shit.

I understand and appreciate the sentiment I do but thats not what it means either. The idea of being aware of systemic racism being made a byword by the right only to be sanitized as general good heartedness demonstrates how concepts are drained of vigor.

We gotta try to hear each other or our goose is cooked.
I get what you're saying, but even if you stopped the left responding to it the racket would still be out there.
It's not us writing the script here, (though it may be us who misused the term in the first place).
I still think it's too useful a word for the right to bandy around for it to be rescued if you convince everyone on the left to stop misusing it, though.
It's like calling legal/tech jargon useless. Just because it isn't understood by the wider public, that doesn't mean it doesn't have its place and uses.
Vaguely understood it began with Black people, but thx to this thread, I found📱👩🏻💻 it goes back all the way to the 1930s and the great Leadbelly, with ref to the Scottsboro boys. @npr.org splains…

Sorry don’t know OP’s pronouns
I will try to learn how to be a better ally without offending.
I did not reply to the other post, but I often wonder if there is more I can do than listen and try to learn.
I even wonder if asking this question is placing the burden to educate unfairly on those I am trying to be an ally to.
Sorry in advance.
hope this helps and i covered everything ok
They just found a new way to gold plate their hate.
Open to the section on the difference between “being a good person” and being anti-racist.
DAMN.
