I heard of this bill. Apparently it lacks support in their legislature and probably won't pass, but it's terrifying nonetheless that someone introduced it.
I think there's also some asshole member there who introduces a bill to secede from the US every term lmao
As an American now living in Europe, I strongly suggest anyone else here heed these warnings. The US is particularly unstable right now and even if there aren’t explicit anti-trans laws at your destination, the rhetoric has spilled out into self-appointed vigilantes who police people’s gender
In case you hadn’t heard, maybe it’s not safe for anyone -cis or trans- to visit American bathrooms. Maybe just avoid our terrible country entirely until we get our shit together or it burns to the ground
I'm in a weird universe in which I know Olympic athletes, and, indeed, it would be gutting. But also fully justified. It foes seem like a big pressure point and I hope people use it.
To be fair you don’t have to be trans to want to stay the fuck away from America for the next 4 years. I’m not going and I’m just a straight white guy.
I mean, my wife and I have accepted that we're not going to the US in the near future because I'm brown so this tracks.
Since hearing of an acquaintance (bit less brown than me) detained by ICE for 48h for no apparent reason (I think under Obama), going now if you don't have to just seems mad.

Their governor, Kim Reynolds is fixated in the most perviest of ways against transgender ppl.

Many trans people have had their passports confiscated.
They can't leave.
This is absurd.
I would tell other countries to boycott but it feels so unfair to the athletes who have been working so hard toward this once-in-four-years goal.
I’ll start reading through the IOC website to see what I can dig up! I would imagine contracts have already been signed, but who knows?
