I’d love to start a proper edu-blog but I just can’t get past the idea that nothing I have to say is new, original or worth reading - everything I’ve ever done I feel like I’ve got from somebody else! How do you move past this feeling 🤷🏻♀️

Just write into something local e.g. Obsidian to get into a groove. Thats what i do. I might publish them some time but for now, a brain dump into a file is sufficient for me.
I started blogging primarily for myself! I used it as a reflective tool, and then it grew. I would start one Anyway, and just blog about what you think is useful to you. Sometimes it's good to revisit old ideas in new ways anyway
But it's your perspective and that is unique to you. Don't worry about it having to be something new. Just make it yours in your context with your experiences.
Every time I have an idea I create a draft post - that way there’s a list of things you want to talk about. Nothing is ever new, so don’t fret. Writing is catharsis, it’s generosity and someone will always find value in it. I had the same feeling. It doesn’t go, just gets smaller!
I just wanted to say thank you so much for all the free resources you gave away. I used the R&J scheme with one of my groups and it went down so well! Everything about it was top tier
Write for you. Write about what you're thinking about or trying to make sense of or having a go at. Write to be able to look back and see if you agree with yourself. Write because it's a joy to write :)
It doesn’t matter - just write! It’s worth it just to capture your thoughts and process your ideas. I think it made me a better teacher. I never thought anyone would read anything I’d written, it was a nice surprise and bonus when they did.
Excellent advice. It's nice if people read what I've written but for me what's really important is the process of writing. It helps to organise my thoughts and sort out what's most important and I love the "flow" of creativity.
so true! i just love writing really and don’t think i do enough practice of it as someone who teaches it!! so it would be a good way of doing that too i guess🤷🏻♀️
I like reading different takes on the same thing. Especially the "This is how I do X" blogs.
I used to blog on a Friday evening about something that had either worked or failed that week. The process of writing the blog made me reflect on my practice more than anything else I've ever done.
The ideas might not be original but your perspective is. See it like a cover song. Somewhere over the Rainbow by Judy Garland is amazing but I like listening to the version below: https://youtu.be/w_DKWlrA24k?si=Q63sazTEjLLr7-3B

Many of them are just to bring clarity of thought & shape to ideasthat sometimes seem hypocritical or go in circles.
Thank you.
