An unusual experience this afternoon. One of my neighbours posted about a bird hitting her window. It was this pied-billed grebe. Adorable little guy and when I came to check on him seemed perfectly fine. The problem is they canβt takeoff on land and there was no water around. 1/3 πΏπͺΆ

And what a great rescue.
If a goose ever got into my house, the goose would just own the house and I'd go live in the shed. π
I'm sure it was equally as ungrateful as the loon.
Found a pic I'd saved from the original story.
Speak it into the universe, now thatβs a red-neck grieve, right? With the pie-billed? They were thick as THIEVES.
I always have work gloves in my car in case I stumble across wildlife, but I donβt know if theyβd hold against a gnarly bite.
For helping them out.
(But Iβd still like to know how the grebe explained this back homeβ¦)
I keep my eye out for them because they try to enjoy the river and people are always zooming around on speed boats around them.
I rescued a grebe along a highway on the Nevada-California border. I think it mistook a mirage on the road or dry lake for a real lake. Took him to a pond and released him.
No bites, though.
My worst bird bite was from a belted kingfisher. It almost took my nipple off!
Wonder where this happened?
Hereβs how to report. Thanks!!
