LoL. I really needed that laugh. I've been doing some paperwork for family and most of it requires a signature, and has to be printed and faxed. Well guess what my printer ink is the same as you describe in this joke.
I had to go to a friend's and print, now I have to fax. Oh the good old days.
Brother laser printer. Period. Bought it over 10 years ago and have never looked back. If I need color, that’s why the gods made Staples and/or Office Depot.
Former Epson owner. Loads cheaper is right & it basically lasts forever. There are literal Reddit threads of Brother printer stans; it’s hilarious. Now, what with printer mfgs forcing ink subscriptions or they remotely freeze your printer? I think not. I’ll maintain & keep my BFFP Brother for-ever!
I'm thinking of going Laser. I print about 3 times a year and every single time I go back to my inkjet and it's dried up and I have to use half a cartridge getting it working again. I assume laser toner is dry and doesn't have the idle issues inkjet does, how have you found it...?
I know this is a totally legit complaint and also part of a comedy bit, but I'll also just throw it out there that a few years ago I bought an inexpensive B&W laser printer and haven't looked back. Way faster, way cheaper, and much better quality for the times you don't need color.
If anyone cares, the reason why that happens is because the government forced identification marks on printed material that use multiple colors. So just another thing to be angry at the government for.
The yellow runs out because even B&W printing has a microscopic yellow stipple on them to identify your printer in case you are printing counterfeit money.
Lots of printer manufacturers set the "black" printing to use all colors, EVEN when you are just printing black. Thus why it won't print black only when it is out of yellow.
I once had a canon printer that kept suffering from paper jams and the making pathetic bleeping noises .. one day I took it into the kitchen and gave it an assisted passage to the floor ,, it never suffered another paper jam.
I own a printer and my cartridges are all fine. But HP won’t let me print until I update my payment info for my NEXT order of cartridges. So until I have the money to buy more it won’t let me use the ones I have.
I hate hp. Subscription for ink. And if you don’t subscribe, they lock you out. I only print 3-4x a year. I don’t need or want a subscription. I hate them.
I can only imagine that the hard requirement for the other color cartridges to print in black and white involves the weird fingerprinting (yellow dots IIRC?) they try to put into every print supposedly to fight currency counterfeiting.
That would be correct to my knowledge. It's for more than just currency counterfeiting but that's part of it. They use it in criminal cases and investigations as well.
I had a lovely conversation while we were both waiting for an HP service rep's computer system in India.
They have a nat'l teacher's day!
Dealer cannot give me a replacement for a bad cartridge. Must go online. Did not work out. Did eventually get a new cartridge. No more HP. Too convoluted.
My 'goodbye HP' (stock and products) was when the phone app demanded that I login and give them permission to view everything I scanned and saved locally. You know, minor things with my Social and bank information...
Must be an HP. Locking you out unless you subscribe. Bitch, I print 3-4x a year. I don’t want your ink as a service. Want to go office space on the thing.

Ever wonder why the yellow runs out when you don't print anything but black and white? 🟡

The phone call was more pleasant and less scary.
It's a thankless job, full of pain and hate and vitriol, but I do enjoy it.
I should probably take advantage of those mental health benefits.
