Australia’s women might be the most dominant sports team in the world right now. They were brilliant. Enormous shame that a) they play in front of such small crowds and b) England were emphatically not up to the task of challenging them.

Sold out Nth Syd Oval last week, and a Sixers finals game incoming at some point this week. Been a lot of cricket in Sydney in the last 3 weeks. Thought the crowd was good and noisy.
I did suggest an alternative a little while back, and the 🏏 community was silent, but maybe that had something to do with all the Tests being played at the time. The Aus women are frighteningly good though. https://bsky.app/profile/occasionallongstop.bsky.social/post/3ldeiomgw6c2b #cricket #handballl
A change of coach seems inevitable, and I'm sure there are some good candidates (Charlotte Edwards comes to mind). The captaincy is more difficult, no one currently in the team looks like they would do better, and some who've been tried have done worse.
Edwards doesn’t want the role right now, especially with the generation of players that are there she started off with.
Plus right now we need someone outside the English set up to take over the team.
They are very very good, but they aren't the reigning champions in T20, and India are probably the best test team (from a very limited sample). They are possibly the most dominant cricket team in the world right now, but we're not talking US Basketball or Dutch Korfball dominance levels.
I haven't heard an attendance figure tonight - probably around 10k - but easily the biggest bilateral women's crowd at the SCG in modern times. And not exactly quiet tonight either.
Scheduling not great to be fair. Monday night and, for a lot of people, that would have been their first day back at work post Christmas. Not sure how much that impacted but it can’t have helped
Television. Squeezed in between Big Bash nights. To be fair mens ODIs struggle to get 15-20k these days. I'm not upset about last night's crowd to be honest.
That's actually not far short of some of the mens ODIs of late. Sitting up in the O'Reilly Stand tonight it felt like a vibrant active crowd. The 30k empty seats wouldn't look so good on TV of course
Depends what we consider more important.
It looking good on TV or the right for Senior international players to be given the opportunity to play at the major international stadiums.

I always argue the later.
