Anime people: getting caught up with Tower of God. Partial to Jujitsu Kaisen, My Hero Academia, Chainsaw Man (I guess), Demon Slayer. Anything good ongoing or complete in recent years in the vein of these?

I can do more recs too with some thought, but it’s my current fav of the fall season and has enough style and substance overlap with that list that I wanted to say it before everyone else did
Former B- student of yours seconding the recommendations for HxH, Dorohedoro, and Dandadan. If you're in the mood for fun schlock Blood Blockade Battlefront is an alright time.
Assassination Classroom is fantastic.
Attack on Titan is one of my favs.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is my number 1. Highly recommended.
Other recs: Trinity Blood, Hellsing: Ultimate, and Darker than Black.
Dan Da Dan will be right up your alley if you enjoyed JJK and MHA.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s end is a really interesting meditation on work/life balance, neurodivergence, legacy, and some other complex themes wrapped around a fantasy adventure.
i'm not sure if it's the right vibe, but if you like the funny/slice of life moments of jjk season 1, parts of demon slayer, kaiju #8 - Spy x Family is suuch a fun watch. it has a kid in it so i thought it was for kids, but it turns out it's for me? really enjoyable, funny, escapist, + fights
echoing the Dandadan recs—the first episode or two have some uncomfortable scenes which sometimes feel like cheap shock schlock, but that goes away and AFAIK it doesn't come back. the rest of it is good enough that it still gets a strong recommend
dorohedoro (quite gory) and the 2nd season is coming, if you're into fantasy dungeon meshi, cyberpunk edgerunners or mob psycho (from one punch man's author)
Yeah I have no reference but am really enjoying the spectacle of it all, which is essentially how I engaged with Demon Slayer and to a lesser extent JJK
highest rec: dandadan, ranking of kings
pretty good: go go loser ranger, wistoria: wand and sword
was really pleasantly surprised by: the ossan newbie adventurer, edens zero
It’s an older show at this point I enjoyed Fate: Zero way more than I thought I would. It’s a sort of magical hunger games with just the right amount of melodrama. And the music slaps.
Delicious in Dungeon is amazing but takes a few eps to really get going. I thought it was going to be a monster of the week kind of thing but the overarching story is very engaging! Also I've read to the end and it's got a satisfying conclusion 👍
DanDanDan is the best one out rn, it currently has 6 episodes and they are awesome. Mob Psycho is one that I would recommend too, there are currently 3 seasons available and they are all great
I have to recommend heavenly delusion. It's a post apocalyptic adventure of 2 kids trying to find heaven whjch is kinda abstract but they make it work and its going somewhere. The show is an emoutional gutpunch. it's beautiful and haunting
There’s a lot of replies so I couldn’t look through everything recommended:
- Mob Psycho 100 (should be in line with what you like already)
- Steins;Gate (if you like alternate universe plots)
- puella magi madoka magica (short series but a personal fav)
It led her to read Crime and Punishment (which she is most of the way through now and is easily the longest book she ever read), so it's clearly inspirational...

Different stuff like Planetes and Space Dandy are great.
vinland saga, fluorite eyes vivy, and frieran if you haven’t seen those either.
that said the ever-recommendation of 'if you haven't watched Hunter X Hunter yet, watch Hunter X Hunter'
you'd probably also dig Durarara!, Soul Eater, and i say you should give Baccano! a shot
i'd say also check Dorohedoro, but the tone there is markedly different. it whips ass tho
