If it has a bright red head like that, and is bigger than you think it should be, it just might be a red-bellied woodpecker! You'd think you'd see a bright red belly, but chances are you won't. Because, you know, bird-namers. I see downy woodpeckers and think, "wow!" and then I see these big guys.
But if it is massively huge and looks a lot like Woody Woodpecker (with the "DA" hairstyle) it's most likely a pileated woodpecker. Which are awesome to see, but I never see them in my suburbs - only out in the woods.
I spend summer and fall in their wake with Abatron Epoxy Wood fill repairing the damage they do to house trim and siding seeking carpenter bee grubs and other such insects

I remember the first time I saw a Yellowhammer, my parents told me that it must be an escaped canary, but I knew they were wrong.
I leave it to the US birders to identify this one
