Grad PLUS borrowers should pay the lowest interest rates on student loans because they already have a bachelor's degree and thus carry lower risk. But they pay the highest.
Because when Bush/GOP was looking to pass the deficit reduction bill in 2005, creating an uncapped loan program for graduate students was seen as a way to generate revenue that could help reduce the deficit.
Thus, professional students with huge loan totals that struggle to pay down principles.
Would it really have mattered? We would have needed Fox News, OAN, and conservative podcasters to cover this. One of the challenges is breaking into the right wing bubble.
Yes. Rupert Murdoch could have torpedoed Trump II in its infancy if he’d wanted. Plus, there’s nothing economically sound about holding back the most educated members of society.
Step one: Become wealthy
Step two: Donate to conservative politicians
Step three: Watch as conservatives destroy the economy and the upward mobility of consumers
Step four: ?????
Step five: Profit
The statement "poverty is powerlessness and voicelessness" highlights that poverty goes beyond a lack of income, encompassing a lack of agency and influence in shaping one's life and interacting with institutions
We did try to explain this to young people when we canvassed, but all we heard was Kamala was a war criminal. Or we were accused of fear mongering. So it's hard for me to believe they didn't hear it. They just chose not to believe it or honestly didn't believe he'd do this.
We entered data in the system, but it wasn't an issue with most people. This is a done deal. The loan forgiveness is gone, and Gaza is absolutely in a worse position under Trump.
So.... it didn't concern enough people to justify any reconsideration of position, but it's still their fault that Kamala lost?
I agree that voting against Kamala was a bad strategy for anyone concerned with Gaza, but there is a lot more the dems could've done on their messaging.
see your assumption is that we are all genocidal maniacs troo and that we are mad about the cost or the styloe or the color of the nektie or something.
The question on the table was that the media didn't explain what Biden did to help with student loans. My comment was that most young ppl I talked to at doors knew about the income driven plans but either didn't care or said we were fear mongering. It's a done deal now. The bills are coming due.
so people refused to vote for the person actively abetting genocide even when they knew it would hurt their wallet? good for them for taking such a principled stand! if only the older people weren't so selfish... they could really learn from the younger ones. You included.
I'm genuinely sorry that's happening to you. But I won't tell people whose families were killed by the Biden/Harris genocide that they should have voted for the people who *murdered their families* as some kind of lesser evil. There's no such thing as "lesser evil" with genocide.
Also, don't put words in my mouth. I was out there in my free time, no pay, listening to how our perfectly qualified candidate was the same as Trump & how both parties are the same. We said trump will definitely get rid of student loan relief & make abortion illegal. Got doors slammed in our faces
We had 2 candidates. One was a psycho adjudicated rapist and convicted felon. The other was Kamala Harris. She had a clear plan for student loan repayment which was to keep the Biden income driven repayment plans. What the hell else could we do? They just have to deal with what trump does now.
Well, there's a global skills shortage and students with skills that are in demand might find another country better suited to their futures. I'm guessing massive US braindrain. Zimbabwe had that - look how it's doing now!

Did you try ASKING the young people what they wanted in a candidate and adjusting your candidate's policy positions to more closely align?
And Harris did NOTHING to meet those young voters' policy requirements.
"Sure, little one, but let me tell you what I think you need" is exactly the way you lose young voters.
THEY WERE TELLING YOU EVEN WHEN YOU DIDN'T ASK THAT THEY COULDN'T SUPPORT A GENOCIDE.
That's why most of them didn't vote AT ALL.
