It’s true, when patients thank me for the care given I so appreciate it. We deal with so many ungrateful people. Come next year, so many are going to lose what little health insurance they have now. So it’s going to be so much worse. It truly makes me sad to see.
Yep I have been there done that. It feels really weird in my case though. My patients I am keeping alive with some of the most dangerous drugs a dr can prescribe and they do not bat an eye but suggest they take an mRNA vax which kind of comes from oncology and all of a sudden it is gene therapy

A local school is on their second pertussis outbreak of the school year. I wonder a lot what this generation of children is going to think of it once they're old enough to realize their parents never went through these diseases because they personally were vaccinated.

OMG! I have nightmares still about OChem. If OChem was the class to weed out pre-med students, it certainly worked for me. I found studying law and being grilled by professors about the holding in some obscure case to be much easier.

I don't have a problem with people not being vaccinated because of religious or cultural reasons or because they have autoimmune conditions. Or vaccine hesitant people that eventually got vaccinated. I have problems with people who believe in totally discredited research.

Unfortunately vaccination initiatives are about herd immunity by limiting vectors. Anti-vaxxers are often (usually) hurting others, not just themselves. At the bare minimum, they endanger children who can't consent or advocate regarding their own care.
Normally I’d agree, but their behavior does affect others. They bring their unvaccinated kids around vulnerable people who depend on others being immunized.
Tricky one with kids. Personally I think it should be mandatory to vaccinate for certain things, polio being a great example, irrespective of parental opinion. But that starts to get into some very tricky territory over rights.
Because of survivor bias. Their entire family can die, and they will turn it around and claim they survived because they did not force themselves into vaccination.
(While refusing to acknowledge that their parents vaccinated them through public school/college).
I agree, totally in favour of vaccinations but my second Oxford astra zeneca jab completely messed me up, I personally believe they were rushed but understand the necessity.
It’s my understanding that decades of substantial research was conducted into using mRNA as a basis for delivering a vaccine prior to using it on humans. In my opinion, it’s not like scientists suddenly came up with that idea and thought they’d immediately experiment on humans just because of Covid.

I live in San Francisco. Most “anti-vaxxers” I know are either healthcare professionals or natural/healthy living types. One skeptical friend says people are stridently pro-vax because they seek safety in group(think) during times of crisis. I said vaccines offer that safety 😂 But for most, not all.

Quant labs were fun and very useful. A lot of transferable skills from those Quant labs if you were paying attention.
