Many of us have spent our lives working with another kind of OS, one that runs on software. The meaning of terms may be immutable, but that code has also gotten hacked, and we can learn from that.

The first defense in both cases is to strengthen access.

In software, granting access is a human decision, and entails accepting the terms of use, with consequences for violations. Taking an Oath of Office could work the same way, but we will need to craft the legal 'code' to do so, and create an enforcement mechanism.

Once having logged in or gained office, other exploits become possible. Data can be fudged, and the logic of laws or code can be evaded. This has already causes widespread destruction in both contexts.
