Years ago I unloaded trucks at a shipping company, and there was this thing called a gaylord that was like a big, open-topped container that would go in a truck that was filled with boxes. For the first several months of that job I thought everyone called them that to fuck with me.
I live in Michigan and can confirm, we also have a town named Hell. Weird side note, I deliver auto parts overnight to dealers, and the large containers we sometimes use are also called gaylords.
Gaylord is sweet. Michigan is a magical place with endless possibilities.
Hell Michigan!
Best cuss for ten year olds ever. I was think they let me get away with it because I picked it up from reading a map of Michigan. Never got to visit Hell but did go to Holland MI. They even sold wooden shoes.
Minnesota has quite a few silly town names. Here are 5 of my personal favorites:
5) Welcome 👋
“Welcome to Welcome”. Hmm. A bit redundant.
4) Pillager 🏴☠️
3) Fertile 🧑🧑🧒🧒
2) Climax ❤️🔥
1) Embarrass🫢
former Michigander here, down to my ex-father-in-law being from Ironwood in the UP
I went to college in Kalamazoo (say it backwards it's Oozamalak), learned druidic shamanism from a man named Dormund, and can also confirm that Michigan is a stellar state
If we're talking about Gaylords, my favorite Gaylord is the Gaylord container. The huge cardboard boxes that watermelons and many other products come in. So called because they are made by the Gaylord Container Company.

One of them has a population of 87, and is classified as a city.
It's also an Indian Restaurant in London, should you ever fancy a curry!
As a teenager, I was obviously Extremely Normal about this fact
Truly, the gaylords are everywhere around us if we just look

Those lumber jacks had a wicked sense of humor. Long winter nights did not help!
