Presidents with trifectas, recognizing how fleeting that control is, usually rush to shepherd through their priorities: ACA + stimulus for Obama, tax cuts for Trump, COVID relief + chunks of BBB for Biden. You could be forgiven for forgetting that Trump has one now, so uninterested is he in using it

to attempt to use the legislature in any capacity would be to admit their need for it - passing a law is an acceptance that they still need to pass laws. if their goal is to only have one branch of government, they have to act like the other two branches don't exist first

They think the lesson of the first term is they were too hesitant, wasted time trying to make things look legitimate. Legislation isn't the point - making law, and indeed the voters, irrelevant is.

Overwhelm civil society and trust that the conservative project has corroded institutions enough.

Doesn't matter if we have a Dem president if the Courts say he's not allowed to tie his own shoes, no one accesses pro-social programs because they disappear every 4 years and the government is perpetually not staffed because no one wants a temp job.

Also, it's not that power is fleeting, it's that we rarely see such a coordinated *wille zur macht* to do this kind of change. Obama didn't push back against his party sabotaging his own milquetoast objectives because he didn't care. Neither did Biden! That isn't the correct conclusion to draw!
