Disney owns ABC. They just donated $15M to Tr*mp. To add insult to injury they assume we’re all stupid & “disguised” the donation as settlement for a bogus & un-winnable lawsuit that they never bothered to defend.
VHS & DVDs only for my kids if we hadn’t already decided that, now it’s firm.
I’m really upset about this. Disney has the best team of attys EVER to fight to protect their brand. If I were to slap Cinderella on a mug and try to sell it in my town, I’d be sued into oblivion. So this hurts from a loyalty standpoint. They really screwed the children of the US. Us, too.
“And these are especially cool. Sometimes the picture bounces like it’s on a roller coaster. Other times a host of gray staticky laser beams cross the TV. Cool, huh? Who needs digital streaming? Have a Werther’s Original while you’re at it.”
I gave my box of tapes to the elementary school, which still had plenty working VHS players, for the kids to watch during recess in winter, because we were never going to own a VHS player again. It hurt to add up how much we spent on those, even with the 40% coupon from Borders.
Old Disney, the best!! Hope your kid is growing up with the original Snow White, which celebrates kindness & cleanliness, portrays dwarves as interesting individuals, & shows that jealousy can turn you into a witch.
The same teenager Snow White who’s kissed by adult Prince and taken away by him, teaching girls you should depend on men to survive and not the opposite. Showing women to dislike each other but if you have a Prince to save you you will be okay. Bullshit. Old Disney is ridiculous and also racist af.
I finally feel like I came to the last version of these cartoons and would no longer have to purchase them. My grandkids didn’t bother watching them as they were into gotcha life or some such program
A couple things-
1. Why the heck are VCRs so dang expensive now adays. Even used ones that may or may not work are like $300.
2. If you have a collection like this, check its worth before selling! Lots of these old movies in the original cases go for big bucks.
As far as old stuff is concerned "Emperor's new groove" comes to mind, which had to gay male characters, but changed all of their dialoge to de-gay them.
Interesting, I didn't know about that one. The censorship done on the DVD/Blu-ray/D+ versions of the animated classics is usually minor stuff like digitally editing out a cigarette or getting rid of the "SFX" cloud in The Lion King
I have most of those too lol. The golden age of Disney is over. Now they’re just another political tool satisfying homophobic trash and refusing to support trans human beings. I may be burning them!!
I hate the fact that so many people bought into the bullsh**t that there was some magical vault that all of these movies were stored away in. Only to realize we can watch them all with a Disney+ subscription. What a scam!
As one who has the streaming service Disney +, in your kids defense I might point out that all of those movies are available online on this service as well as Star Wars, National Geographic. Pixar, Marvel and now Hulu and ESPN. 😉
About 10 yrs ago, my son who was about 12 at the time asked me what the rectangular things were in the cupboard. I couldn't figure out what he was talking about & I had him show me.
You were VERY lucky if you had a collection like that. I have (on VHS mind...) My Girl, Beauty & the Beast, and my Uncle's wedding video. Oh and a copy of Giselle the ballet.
Yeah, but the father of the house has to drive to Target to get the correct cable. And the film that was moms favorite (The Little Mermaid) is so worn it's unwatchable. So after a long fight about what to see, when The Lion King is actually playing, everybody has lost interest.

Did an AI make this meme?
It was Disney VHS tapes 😂
Or even find one.
They made literally millions of copies. The obscure horror films are way more valuable than Disney.
