Just like the Cybertruck, Musk is gonna sell these off to local police departments. They'll tout it as a green initiative, when really it's just a chef getting rid of unsold fish in a seafood stew.

As flashy toys, mebbe. Not enough space in the front seat for all the cr@p (radios, computers, paperwork, etc), the seats themselves are wrong (patrol vehicle seats are made for a driver wearing a ballistic vest + bat belt), good luck getting a divider and restraint seats in the back.

I think he tried to do this last year and like 4 different departments explained that because of the glass roof they couldn't put security dividers in between the first row and second and that they wouldn't survive going through a highway water divider so they couldn't take them.

Apart from the kleptocratic motive, this is a good thing. All fleets should be moving to EVs. It's literally the perfect use case: drive around town for a few hours, plug in back at the office to recharge overnight. Sure, they should be competitively bid, but the end result is (mostly) positive.
