FYI, Amazon will no longer enable the downloading of ebooks to exterior devices starting February 26th.

Here’s a tutorial on how to download your ebooks off of Amazon. You can use Calibre (free software) to reformat the kindle books to be used on other devices.

Maybe some of the big publishers do, but they play by different rules.

Also, erotica and steamy romances are NOT pornography. And LGBTQA+ content most definitely isn't porn.

Physical books are heavy en mass! An eReader with several hundred books on it is a game-changer. I did move away from Kindle Keyboard to the Kobo Aura and Aura One (which shows the era of devices, but they're not missing any feature I need). Kobo supports/sells DRM free format books last I checked

Some books are exclusive to amazon. I will not lie Ive gotten ebooks in "other ways". I have however always paid for them at least once, either by paying amazon or finding another way to get money to the author. Ive always known a digital license was not owning the thing itself.

This has always been the issue I've had with certain "higher tier" services like Amazon and iTunes/Apple music; none of the stuff you pay for is yours coz they can go in your library and delete- you only paid for "usage"

It’s been a while since I burned a cd, but it *used* to be that songs purchased on iTunes could be burned to cd, but can’t be done with songs downloaded on Apple Music, as that’s the subscription service. If that’s still a thing, those files should be able to be backed up on cd or ext. hard drive

I've bought very few ebooks from Amazon, but I've been unDRMing them with Calibre plugins when needed so that I can read them on my Kobo eReader for years.

I heard that similar things work with Overdrive library rentals through Amazon, but I prefer to acquire DRM free ePub books and avoid the issue
