Young folk, did you know that the ACA got rid of something called Pre-Existing Conditions? Before the ACA, insurance companies could deny care or coverage because you had any number of conditions (even unrelated ones to what you needed care for), including simply being pregnant!
Thanks Obama!
Thanks Obama!

And thank God our daughter was a well-baby delivery
Any one over 50 that has <2 preexisting conditions?
Ask around.
Good luck.
So if I had a spot of skin cancer removed, they won’t cover more which is inevitable.
This will kill people.
Health Ins charged women more than men of same age similar health bc of maternity coverage
I also had extra charge bc of my previous surgeries - including hysterectomy
•Surcharge maternity
•Surcharge bc I had hysterectomy
Double Surcharge
Would never need materinty
🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
It’s so convoluted, it’s hard to really understand
When Obama gave us ACA was the first time I was able to get care for my issues.
Thank you so much for ACA, @barackobama.bsky.social
(just for context in case it wasn't clear - astonished how few Gen Zers & younger know about this)
And hey, all you people who’ve had a documented case of COVID, you better hope we don’t go back, cause guess what - that’s a pre-existing condition too.
There was life before ACA/
And life after ACA.
And not a single ethical doctor wants to go back.
Not one
Things haven't changed. Insurance companies just found new avenues.
To name a few.
It's a for profit HC sys that cover nothin charges outrageous premiums deductibles, Co pays & the addition 25% that the insurance doesn't cover. They deny delay coverage
Ppl r getting bankrupt 4going 2the hospital getting huge bills
So bec it helped u, u like it, but wat abt those ppl that were denied it seems 2me u think they're irrelevant.
I think we're at a point now that's just as bad if not worse than before the ACA. We're living in hell.

Better does not mean good.
It's crap.
Universal Healthcare now...
They're collecting our premiums and denying delaying our care and then get a bill that's so large you have to set up a payment arrangements to pay back the balance of a bill, this puts us in danger.
And let us not forget the origin story of the ACA, whereby
Senators Ted Kennedy & Orin Hatch worked in bipartisanship for many, many years to bring this basic protection to the American people!

I couldn’t get healthcare coverage for any amount of money.
If it's overturned now, as well as medicaid being cut... I will literally have no options.
Not life threatening, just miserable. Imagine walking around with a migraine for days when there was something available to fix the problem, just out of reach.
It's better than before but it's very fucked up
The “set point” was male. Not a male? It would cost you more
The ACA was not perfect but it was lightyears better than before
Deaf adults like myself have never been able to get their hearing aids covered because it’s considered DME (Durable Medical Equipment). Why? Because anything needed for a lifetime wears out. HC corpos hate paying for HAs, glasses, wheelchairs…
Under ACA
I
STILL
CANNOT
GET
MY
HEARING AIDS
COVERED
The ACA does not want people with disabilities to survive because it affects their bottom line.
Don’t forget all the workers demoted or fired so large on-site employers could avoid mandated benefits coverage.
The ACA was never about us, it was always about keeping corporations involved.
In that time, my lesions went from “half a dozen” to “too many to count.”
Pre-existing condition exclusions changed my life.
We cannot go back.
