Really awesome run. I'm taking my chance here to ask though, the battle between Vader and Sidious, is it just a vision? Did Palpatine showed Vader that when he defeat him he isn't ready to rule the Galaxy and that was what he meant with "Only I was ever prepared" ? Thank you!

Darth Vader may be the single most iconic fictional character of my generation. Seriously. It's mind-blowing to realize I've written more Vader comics than anyone on the planet. An enormous experience, and huge thanks to the readers, retailers, and reviewers who made such a long run possible. 🖤

I also want to acknowledge how important this run was for me on a personal and business level. Let's be real: comics is a tough business, even for established pros. I was fortunate to start on VADER right before the pandemic hit, and it kept going throughout the most difficult months. That's huge.

Congratulations. These books were a ton of fun to read. Well done Star Wars lore with a character that has such a massive history which you managed to expand wonderfully. I recommend this book to all Star Wars fans I know whether they are comic readers or not.

Thanks so much! And yeah, it feels great to have done it, but it's not at all something to measure your career by! So much of the market is a based on the pre-existing notoriety of characters and chance. I'm proud to have hit some home runs with this series, ha ha! But a long run is also about luck.

Yeah, I know it. I try to keep some amount of perspective on this stuff and celebrate my victories.
But also, man, you hear people kvetch about there not being genre defining runs like Lee or Claremont and you think "sure would be nice to have a chance to fail at that".

Yeah, it's so vanishingly rare now for any creators to get more than 12 issues on anything it feels like a huge deal to have a shot at anything longer. And purely in terms of time and business, it's better, ha ha! Less time spent chasing jobs, more time spent doing the job.

But there are also real creative advantages to shorter runs/stories. I know a lot of comics writers are huge television people. But I'm fundamentally a movie person. So my brain really embraces those five to twelve issue storylines in comics. Creatively, that's great for me!

Ha ha, but with a longer run, you can also just think of it as a series of those kinds of stories, right? Anyway, I'll absolutely grab onto the chance for another long run if it arises! But I'll count my blessings and write the hell out of every mini that comes my way, too.
