Having Video Games as a job and choosing to play Metaphor is certifiably insane because I'm committing to like... two and a half full"work weeks" for one game lmao

The worst thing about it is the more you play the more you want to play. It's been out for a week and I put fifty hours in and I might take a sick day tomorrow to find out what happens next.
Try having a full-time job outside of video games AND having 3 other releases to juggle (UFO 50, Super Mario Party Jamboree w/ the partner and Silent Hill 2 Remake). I can only play Metaphor once the husbands asleep.
This is why not even Square Enix can promote their own Final Fantasy XI properly, let alone let the press doing decently - 20+ years of content.
Yet playing it was worth it - it's the only game to ever get a tear out of me, at the end of the Rhapsodies story which gave some closure to 14 years of it
Maybe do one video about Lorelei and the laser eyes. 10ish hours long and honestly haven't seen anything about the game it's so underrated. Also I need someone to explain wtf happens in it cuz I can't understand it fully
it's also funny for me to say I'm playing a game and people to be like "can't wait for the video on this one!" because I beat probably 10 games for every one that gets into a video
In all likelihood I will not do anything explicitly about Metaphor bc it's really hard to condense 100 hour games into a compelling 30 minute thesis. So I guess I just have to enjoy the game!!!
I would really love to see you talk about any of the Atlas RPGs at some point! Even if it's some vlog style discussion on Nebula, I think some of them could really mesh well with your style of analysis. Either way, enjoy the game!
We would spend 40 hours/week for a month working on the same 3 minute loop of gameplay because the game crashed no matter what you did… then turn around, hook up 4 Xboxes, and spend the next 4 hours after work, while at work, playing Halo: CE MP. Those were the days.
When I was making my vampire video there was abjectly a point at which it started to feel like "Work" to play the games. Probably when I decided to add Vampyr and then had to play through that *for the video* rather than its own sake.
The best “fix” I’ve had for this is streaming. Helps me justify the time I’m spending on one single game. Might not be true but it sure tricks my brain into thinking I’m being more productive than I am
when i play long games like Metaphor or Persona i make a giant text document with timestamps for all my recordings and that makes the "game work" even longer...
I love your videos man. They're so good. I often wonder how long into each video it's going to be before you say "I haven't stopped thinking about this since I first saw it" though 😂
Fr though, your videos are super thought provoking and really in depth.
I kinda feel this, I chose to write about fighting games and have to allot time every day to practice to actually be able to play in tournament and write about it.
Focusing completely on high school would be so boring tho
I'm trying to dangle Metaphor as some sort of unhinged reward if I can finish this damn blogging project, but realistically Neva represents such a greater emotional reward-to-playtime ratio that I should probably be dangling that instead...
