After likening the first two Deadpool movies, I tried to watch Deadpool & Wolverine and turned it off and said to myself, "I guess I'm too old for this now."
The problem is dependent on cartoons to feel better. Do you know people who do? I do. One cartoon to sleep, another to wake up. One for getting ready. ☺️💁🏻♀️
It happens to most modern generations. For elder millennials, it was Bevis and Butthead. I use it as an early warning for identifying fuck wits. Don't misunderstand me, I enjoy South Park, Family Guy, Rick and Morty, etc. But as with any hard-core fan base, they're mostly brain-dead.
They don't know what they believe in and they've never had to take a real stance on anything because shit is not consequential to them. All edgy comedy is like this on television.
Yeah, being white really does make you the main character and yet conveniently invisible at the same time, but they're constantly lobbing grenades at minorities 💀
That's another thing that grates me, like you can tell they never actually get input for Black people when they try to write about Black characters or issues.
Just watched the OKC bombing doc: for 48 hours it had "all the hallmarks of middle east terrorism" and every vaguely Arabic person was under suspicion. As soon it was 2 white guys, "the entire community banded together against this lone wolf."
the "equal opportunity offender" is what they all regurgitate
you punch every person in the room and they punch you back, you can't whine and be like "but i didn't just hit one person, it's equal, learn to take a punch"
The writers/producers could be satirizing the immaturity of it all too.
Admittedly it IS very white.
I would 💯 rather watch South Park over Bill Maher.
The last time I watched it felt like Cartman had become the voice of reason everyone should listen to instead of the manipulative lunatic he was at the start. Meanwhile he’s still a piece of shit, but we’re supposed to agree with him? They’ve fallen off.
Yes, but I wouldn't enjoy my sense of humor being informed by a life experience that consists of nothing but being a 13 year old boy in the late 90's/early 2000's.
Doesnt all television do that ? Its safe its what brings in money, Im not saying your wrong all im saying is if a person enjoys something they shouldnt be judged I hated 'severance' but billions of people would disagree with me
So you didn't have a good 11 to 12 year old experience? That doesn't mean everyone had bad experiences or that they don't remember their childhood correctly. Stop projecting your own misery onto others.
I was not 11 or 12 in the 90s, and when the skinhead thing happened it was not a bad experience, it was funny because we used to beat them up. The point was that race relations were not all fine and dandy. Don’t fucking reply to me with this illiterate shit
You said these people have false memories (apparently based on the fact that your memories are different).
She's telling you that some people did have happy tween yrs even though you didn't & you should realize that & take it into account rather than insisting your experience is the only one.
These people have false memories because they are saying everything was fine with race relations and that is not even close to true. Please know the context of the discussion before saying this dumb shit
I kind of envy those who can think that, even falsely. Maybe it was easier to hide from reality as a kid in the 90s.I know for sure that the mid-70s sucked and I knew it at the time. The colors were ugly. TV was banal. The toys were mostly cheap crap. American animation was at its nadir.
i've never seen an episode of sp and i never plan to. it's just not appealing to me, i don't get why people watch it when it's basically pouring battery acid into your skull
I'm sure you have favorite shows too
Maybe even some you watched in your childhood and still do
It's called comedy and South Park is always relevant on making fun of society with comedy
I'm in my 50s and just about everyone I know who has been or was a big South Park fan is a conservative chode now. Seems marinating your brain in "caring about anything is weak and laughable" isn't good for you
They play by "everyone's a target" rules, which leads to them punching down alot, which is never ok. Especially not in something that popular with teens/young adults. And they've been around for what, years now? Still doing the same shit
Yep, you like it because you were an edgy 13 year old and then your grow up and realize in your early 20s that Matt and Trey are just BITTER & JADED Gen X guys complaining that the world isn’t as good as it used to be. 🤷🏼♀️ Grow up
I don't know if everyone feels the need to rip on others for the dumbest shit ever but, Eddie, you're definitely on of them after ripping on others for ripping on others for watching a TV show.
I didn't rip on you, little buddy. Me merely pointing out a fact probably felt like getting ripped on, but I assure you - me ripping on you is an entirely different experience.
What you should be more concerned about is the guilt and shame you felt having your actions pointed out to you.
Oh wow , think so much of your self dont you, condescending prick, "my actions" LMAO go fuck yourself, you might not be such a uptight prick afterwards.
So you're one of those Christians who believes it's okay to act like a terrible human as long as you convince yourself you're doing it for the right reason, huh?
LMAO I aint no Christian dude, so take that shit some where they give a fuck, you ripped on me for ripping on others so fuck off with your hypocrisy ,you're deffo a Christian, cos hypocrisy is all you lot do.
"South Park stopped being funny" is actually a pretty good sign. It hasn't changed at all, so if your relationship to it has changed, it's probably because you've grown.
Over 30 years, we've all met a few people who'll occasionally refer to a South Park gag and we've all met a few people who really, really, REALLY love the show to the extent that they make their fandom part of their personality.
That second group have certain traits in common. They invite judgment.
Facts. This conversation was one I had with my son MANY years ago..."You will not grow mentally stuck on watching or reading things that will not allow you to mature beyond the age of 10 years old. Turn the TV off and read something that challenges your mind to expand." Thank You for this post!
Trump is turd sandwich and Harris is giant douche. Turd sandwich is worse because it is literally shit. Is a giant douche much better? American electoral system is garbage.
Prob not popular w this take, but the popularity of comic book stories as our cultures main movie entertainment of the last 20 yrs tells a story about this same phenom.
But I enjoyed my kids cartoons more than half adult programming, so idk.
I watch some cartoons before going to bed - the ones that make me laugh and ease the worries of the day. Getting a good night's sleep makes for better awareness and action the next day.
I have to admit that I prefer most anime to "regular" programming.
They had a few episodes that were really great. The one where Korn was the Scooby Gang. The one with the Ninja weapons. Most Butters episodes. But their social commentary was pretty lazy.
I never watched it much when it came out, but my teenagers did. I will say it insulted everyone equally regardless of religion, color, sex, profession, etc...My teenagers are in their 40s now. I'm not sure if they still watch it...but my 62 yr old husband thinks it, and Archer are great. I just SMH.
I have no beef with South Park or adults who still enjoy it. I have a beef with grown men thinking Cartman is funny in the GOOD way. Same deal with Quagmire from Family Guy and Boomhauer from King of the Hill. They aren't meant to be role models.
Thank you. Kidulting is a big problem in the US. Gaming has not helped anyone grow up either, sure hasn't helped take the soldiers returned to civilian life out of the war zones.
I take it they did a skit that insulted you! 🤣🤣🤣
Fucken hypocrites crack me up....
Maybe focus on how fucked up America is right now and how you do nothing about it!🤗
A show ment for adults? Few 13 year olds have the life experiences to comprehend the social issues involved. Not to worry you can say the same thing about Rick & Morty in a few years, or any of the Adult Swim shows.
I never was a fan, but I did watch one episode where South Park got to take over the Sundance Film Festival and I find it hilarious because we literally just lost the Sundance Film Festival last year. To Colorado. 🤣

All edge, no point, easily worked, and forever coming back to the same place rather than moving on
As the show matured into characters and narratives (and the creators' views crystalized within them) it lost me.
Partially me growing up, ofc, but also "Nothing is Sacred," stops working the second it's no longer true.
And you can get half-decent jokes along the way, but only so long as the bit has 100% commitment.)
give me your top 3 episodes.
Wendy fights photo filters
Stan's parents get divorced
And in a Grim weird gross but right way Brittney Spears
But on net, no matter Trey and Matt's intention, I think it ended up a toxic influence on the culture, and the juice is not worth the squeeze.
This insistence that it’s “offensive” and it’s impossible that to some people it’s just boring, corny and predictable is their cope.
you punch every person in the room and they punch you back, you can't whine and be like "but i didn't just hit one person, it's equal, learn to take a punch"
Admittedly it IS very white.

They do have the orange guy in the white house accurate.
Matt & Trey would be pleased to know they have that much influence.
I am from the generation that was going to be destroyed by rock music and comic books.
😤😤😤😤😤
Oh wait, South Park. Right.
Family Guy and Bob's Burgers is ok tho', right? 😜
She's telling you that some people did have happy tween yrs even though you didn't & you should realize that & take it into account rather than insisting your experience is the only one.
And any objective look at crime, inflation, race relations, the environment, etc., shows how bad it was.
Sure, there was Star Wars. Some comics were good. Micronauts were cool. But that’s Survivor Syndrome: The minority of good stuff is remembered.
Maybe even some you watched in your childhood and still do
It's called comedy and South Park is always relevant on making fun of society with comedy
It could be like cops wearing a Punisher emblem
Grow up?
You're the one pissed people watch a tv show for entertainment that you don't like
If you’re over 30 and have a good view of Matt & Trey as people…. Then maybe you aren’t getting what South Park is trying to say??
They do a whole season on how they’re apathetic dbags at heart!
What you should be more concerned about is the guilt and shame you felt having your actions pointed out to you.
It's not.
That second group have certain traits in common. They invite judgment.
But I enjoyed my kids cartoons more than half adult programming, so idk.
And The Boys is a great show.
I have to admit that I prefer most anime to "regular" programming.
Isn’t that weird?
Fucken hypocrites crack me up....
Maybe focus on how fucked up America is right now and how you do nothing about it!🤗
What have are you being “kept” from?
