18 USC 793(f) makes it a crime to remove national defense information from its proper place through gross negligence. Doesn’t matter whether info was classified. Signal chat is not a proper place.

I'm sorry to say this, but rules are for suckers and this administration and the Law Enforcement arm thinks it's not for them (GOP). The Democrats are still trying to fight reasonable and just, but it's not going to work. They don't know how to fight and ppl like Slotkin, Schumer and others are weak
DOJ will totally ignore. Except they’ll possibly go after Jeffrey Goldberg. They are already slandering him and implying he infiltrated the chat by somehow adding himself to a chat he didn’t know existed.
Which ironically makes the case that it is an insecure platform.
These APPS shouldn’t even be allowed. If people have to do things in secret maybe they shouldn’t do them. When is this country going to fight back? When are our leaders going to stop being complacent? We don’t have to allow hateful or corrupt crazy people a gateway to engage in treasonous behavior
So these soulless, incompetent morons not only participated in a massive national security breach, but they also broke at least one federal law with their incredibly reckless chat on Signal. But not one of them has been forced to resign? Got it.
Not a single post here about this leak being good news for the Houthi's. From that, I can assume all the respondents to this are pro Israel as are about 80% of congress. When are we going to start fighting the REAL terrorists? Fight, all we have to do is stop the weapons flow and Israel will STFU.
I would think those involved would have to turn over the phones they used for the Signal chat, to see what other chats were used and what else may now be on their phones, especially that guy that was at the Kremlin.
The Signal leak is more than a glimpse, it’s a blueprint. Trump’s playbook isn’t chaos, it’s control: crush the press, bury diversity, reward obedience, punish defiance. Where loyalty replaces law and truth is whatever power says it is.
They'll just brazen it out, knowing we'll lose focus when this administration's next outrage hits -- the usual pattern. What can be done to force a better outcome this time? 🤔
If enough congressional Rs had a spine? EASY: Impeach & remove Hegseth (and others?), deftly bypassing the corrupt DoJ.
The problem is, once a system shifts to authoritarianism, returning to democracy isn't impossible, but it's incredibly difficult. It will take all of us. We can’t burn out, can’t give up. We have to keep sharing information and stay sharp.
Yes, so it's important to use the Signal scandal as a fulcrum to keep this lawless administration on the defensive. Those who set up the chat & shared military secrets should be prosecuted, yes, but that's unlikely until '29. If Dems can get a majority in the House/Senate, impeach them in early '27.
1: signal is unauthorized as a platform for communication.
2: it can be used on devices outside the control of the IT departments of the agencies.
3: it does not conform to rules regarding documentation for liability reason.
They use it to avoid being held accountable for their actions. To
enable them to just keep silent or deny and no one can document their mistake and or misconduct / illegal actions. They have been trained by project 2025 to do it this way.
Based on what we've seen so far, anything illegal involving Trump, will be ignored by the MAGA GOP SCOTUS who have already turned a blind eye to the Constitution and the law itself.
This will be a true test to see if Patel or Bondi have any independence or allegiance to their oaths. If so, they will not hesitate to open a full-scale investigation into the criminal negligence of administration officials. But I'm afraid we will learn otherwise. Truly sad.
Isn’t talking about strike plans to non-military people who have no reason to know about them in itself disqualifying? Why is he blabbing centcom info to anyone, regardless of what format he uses? And in real time, as opposed to after the attack. I assume centcom is furious.
Military personnel involved in this action were put at jeopardy. How many lives were at risk with this leaked information? These incompetence fools can try and deny any harm but it was a severe breach of duty by senior staff.
We have "Investigated" ourselves. And found we have done nothing untoward.
Where did I read that before. Ah yes. Every law enforcement agency employed in the Continental United States.

Absolutely DISGUSTED with the way Felon47 and his top echelon Cabinet members are minimizing, obfuscating, and bold face lying about this gargantuan breach of security. The literal criminals are in charge, and Congressional Republicans MUST hold them accountable or our republic is doomed.🤯🤬🤯
And that is exactly what they want to be overlooked! Dickhegseth removed that info from its secured place, and posted it! Probably to show that he’s important, in a position of power, and can do what the fuck he wants!
PLEASE MAINTAIN THE DIGNITY OF YOUR POSITION BY CONFINING ALL CLASSIFIED DISCUSSIONS INVOLVING GOVERNMENTAL AND SENSITIVE INFORMATION TO A SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility)
I realize it likely doesn’t matter, but do you know if there’s any veracity to the reports the admin ordered techs to permit installation of signal / bypass the restrictions? If true, I’m guessing some will try to use that as a partial “out” or “plausible” excuse of some sort.
Gee , one might remember that the government has spent a considerable chunk of money on secure communications… it’s almost as if they wanted to avoid official channels…
I don't believe the reporter was added by accident. He was part of an insurance policy. Someone got nervous and decided to reveal the inner workings of this corrupt administration.
This is much bigger than we thought. Contact the guy who added him to Signal and offer him a deal.
He's ready to flip!
"Hey! Don't try to tell Me about '18 USC 793(f)'!
I know All About 'Willful Removal And Retention Of National Defense Information (NDI)'!
I TOLD people I was Uniquely Qualified for this job!"
It is if the person ultimately responsible for America's national security is more concerned about his minion's security, than he is America's security. Nothing will happen to them because the people given the responsibility to do something, Congress ... will do nothing.
Gee, do you mean the guy accued of rape? The guy who ran two military organizations (with less than 100 people) into the ground. The guy who shows up for a morning talk show smelling of liquor. The guy who cheated on all his wives. The guy who asked Trump to pardon murderers. Why would he resign 😵💫
Reminds me of the Big Tobacco experts testimony where everyone knows that they are lying but they said it anyway and probably will get away with it at least until the election.
It doesn't matter if the FBI investigates. Even if there is an FBI investigation, Patel will order the conclusion of the investigation be that they are innocent.
Nothing will come of this....NOTHING. Nobody has the moral courage to resign and neither President Musk or his boy Trump will do anything. And, in the event somebody was charged with the crime they committed, Trump will pardon them.
What is just as bad is that they use Signal widespread. It’s not isolated to this occurrence. Guaranteed. An undocumented platform where they delete all info about the messages taking place after a set amount of time without anyone being able to hold them accountable. This is illegal.
Trump’s fantasy of being King—operating above the law, immune from accountability—is steadily collapsing.
Not through noise, but through the quiet, methodical pushback of voters, lawyers, judges, and public servants who still remember what the rule of law means.
How adorable that everyone in our party keeps talking about all the CRIMES being committed when there's literally no one left to prosecute these people, and Justice Roberts gave trump immunity to be a criminal.
The ONLY way back will not be through laws or courts. We must rise up.
Can we stop pretending that any of this matters. They don’t care about the rule of law and no one can do anything about it except the voters. Unfortunately, the voters are just fine with all of this at the moment. The country doesn’t exist anymore.
Yes in a country that follows the rules of law, it would be considered a crime.
Mar a Lago is not a proper place to keep nuclear top secret documents, either. He said that he took back all the documents seized by the FBI.
Yes, a test, but they are no longer normal. Both have quickly morphed into protectors and enablers of a ridiculously stupid criminal enterprise known as a Kakistocratic Kleptocracy
As someone previously posted, the vice president, cabinet members, and other appointed federal administration staff do not have immunity from breaking laws. START PROSECUTIONS before all the lawyers and judges are gone.
I did not know this. I bet a lot of people do not. Hopefully the special prosecutor will add it to the list in 2029. First felon makes NIXON seem acceptable. He and his whole mob should reside in the Lexington hotel on the south side of Chicago.
And at the same time, if the phones haven’t been turned over for forensic examination we will never know… as you can see there unwillingness to even discuss
Remind you of any group in particular that used signal to plan the attack on the Capitol by Proud Boys maybe..
Hmmm I’m reading that it actually does encrypt data at rest (on the device), as well as in transit. Only authorized user can see encrypted data. That would be someone who authenticated on the machine, not necessarily someone who gained access but wasn’t authenticated.
The “authentification” just shows Signal that my phone is the authorized phone. It doesn’t limit access from inside the phone. Open the phone, open the app, gain access. Hackers know everything I don’t about how easy it is.
I’m not sure about that. If it’s encrypted on the device, owned by the device then whomever authenticated has access. If someone accesses the files on the device but is not authenticated, they would see a scramble. I’m curious though so I’ll ask the people I know in IT security. I’ll get back to ya
Add to this that the user’s phone can be compromised without them even knowing. Certain countries have been selling this capability. The only way to stop it is locking down your phone, which makes it useless.
Pam bonding and Kash Patel are in those jobs precisely for things like this. There will be no investigation. Everyone senator who voted for these people in these positions should be held to account.
It's so there's no paper trail and then there's no impeachment proceedings nor prosecutions of corrupt criminal actions.Putin is helping traitor tRUMP circumnavigate the constitution judicary checks and balances and the American people.Anything to become king not merely president.Musk is helping
Trump purposely picked a swarthy no talent snake oil salesman to head the FBI as a personal fvck you to every FBI agent in the country. Even the way Patel dresses is an insult. He can't even do his tie🙄
Thank you for the citation to 18 USC 793(f) but there is currently absolutely no one in a position of authority within Bond's Department of Nojustice who would prosecute anyone under this statute who is loyally serving the new Trump regime. To me, this is a far more important point.
What should we expect from people who were chosen by and work for a liar, perhaps one of the greatest liars of all time maybe even THE GREATEST LIAR OF ALL TIME! 🙉🙈🙊
Is anybody really betting that Krash Patel or Komrade Bondi is going to open an investigation? They were put in place to do what Diaper Don tells them too, not to enforce the law.
Everyone involved is a trump stooge...they wipe their hind parts with laws and principles. Watch them lie. Watch them stonewall. Watch them grift. Watch the (m)ass media give them a pass too.
So? What is the recourse available here to get this idiots out of office? They are a clear and present danger. Incompetence doesn't even begin to describe their actions.
And that is not even the FOCUS of the inquiry....just that the reporter was added to the group. I've heard VERY little about the fact that it is ILLEGAL to begin with!
THIS is what happens when they put people in place who are unqualified, incompetent, incapable of doing the job, know absolutely NOTHING about what F they are doing! The Convicted Felon & his entourage of Jokers are making a mockery of the cabinet positions. Positions held by highly regarded experts

(Asking in the vain hope that there will be a future non-corrupt administration.)
Tulsi lost all her memory cells when in transit somewhere in the universe. 👊🇺🇸🔥
Let's shoot them all first for being traitors,
... and then argue over the legality of that action.
Like Trump does 😃
Any takers?

They will fail. They fail at everything.
It’s not a test. They will do nothing.
this will confirm america's fascist state
If anyone is going to fail this test, it certainly will be Kash.

What’s important is that 52 civilians were killed so that 1 leader could be killed
People are saying that’s pretty good, much better than Biden - he barely killed anyone
I’m kinda hoping for a massive internal revolt at DOJ against both of them.
Thank you, Professor McQuade, for citing the law with such clarity.
This Signal breach isn’t merely careless—it’s part of a deeper pattern: the belief that power exempts one from consequence.
#RuleOfLaw #2026Countdown
Trump’s fantasy of being King—operating above the law, immune from accountability—is steadily collapsing.
Not through noise, but through the quiet, methodical pushback of voters, lawyers, judges, and public servants who still remember what the rule of law means.
By 2026, this may not just be a legal footnote—it could be the cornerstone of a congressional reckoning.
The walls aren’t closing in—they’ve already formed. Now comes the pressure.
(Whispers)
THEY FAILED!!!!!!
The ONLY way back will not be through laws or courts. We must rise up.

Who will impanel grand jury to seek indictment, given Bondi heads up DOJ?
They ALL knew the record would be "wiped"!
That also makes it a criminal conspiracy?
Think we're in the "as if" stage
Remind you of any group in particular that used signal to plan the attack on the Capitol by Proud Boys maybe..
#Signal
Any arrests yet?
Second a bad player might have been able to add a participant but not decode the program.
WHY haven’t they realized, a bad player would add a hacked phone. They need to check the reporter’s phone for spyware.
Which detailed how Manafort and Konstantin Kilimnik would cycle through various apps, including Signal, in order to avoid U.S. prosecutors
There will be no repercussions.
The Wolf(s) are already in the hen house.
Tragic.
He takes his orders from a convicted felon.
