I have a treasured video of my then 4 year old son singing along with the opening song. Didn't care for the theme of being very useful for the top hat wearing boss, but I still have fond memories of watching with my kiddo.
A hero to Capitalism and unthinking loyalty to power. We watched two episodes with our daughter and then banished the show from our watch list. Cute trains with a terrible terrible message—pure pro-capitalist propaganda
Thomas was the most anti union kids show ever made.
It was always the workers’ fault. The boss was always right. And they bricked up trains inside to punish them.
The engines might occasionally get bricked in, but they were the labor aristocrats, and were celebrated as "useful" to the boss and also when they acted as scabs against the unskilled, "troublesome" freight cars. This was the message children were given. Oh, and new tech is dangerous (Diesel).
Not true, it was the engine's fault more often than the worker's fault. Sometimes the workers even took big personal risks to save engines in the show. But... very pro-cigar chewing capitalist for sure.
When I worked at Blockbuster Video decades ago, those Thomas the Tank Engine tapes flew off the shelves like crazy. Kids just couldn't watch the stuff enough, it was really something.
Oh this makes me sad. My son was obsessed with Thomas, the show, the movies, his toy trains. He was even Thomas for Halloween when he was two. She left a great legacy!
He comes to Greenfield Village in Michigan a lot (at least last 10 years).
The kids love to see him (I think the parents secretly do too).
—not my picture. Think it’s taken by the person that wrote the article. Can’t believe neither my husband or I had one but…
Brilliant characters and wonderful stories. No wonder Ringo worked on this for so long. Thomas appearing as a dragon in Skyrim was a cultural moment for me.

Rest in peace Britt 🙏🏽❤️
My kids loved those books/vids/toys
My children loved everything Thomas the Tank Engine 🚊
Of my three, I have one train boy, and it's delightful.
CHUGA CHUGGA CHOO CHOO
If you watch the episode after that one, he gets let out and redeems himself by pulling Gordon’s train after he breaks down

The books were written by the Rev.Wilbert Awdry.
Allcroft just flogged the hell out of it.
She did it not for money, she loved the books and wanted them to have a good television adaptation
Saying she only did it for money is incredibly disrespectful, especially immediately after her death
She wrote the film that no one watched.
To that I call bullshit.
