I’ve been to New Orleans quite a few times in January and sometimes it was chilly but I never thought this would happen. It was like 50 degrees one time and a local woman said “they’ll be shutting down the schools because of this cold weather!” lol
I feel for the people in New Orleans! Many people are not prepared for the very cold weather!😢
Hopefully there will be the help they need to survive the severe weather change.🙏🏾
They would have a much easier time with cross country skis, but I guess we can forgive them for not knowing exactly what skis are best suited for the streets of Louisiana.
People who like skiing take ski trips and own their own equipment. Probably not that practical when you live in the south, but maybe they're transplants.
Well, that’s the wrong kind of skis. That’s carving equipment, meant for down hill skiing. So 100 % photo op. Your average Nordic winter soldier would do laps around these guys. Also, that’s obviously wet snow, the worst kind for Nordic cross country.
My husband was supposed to fly there today for work (from Buffalo NY) and his flight got cancelled. Apparently a lot of planes are stuck at the New Orleans airport because they don't have de-icing equipment....
We don’t. We will get sleet, but rarely snow. definitely not snow that accumulates, last time was in the 60s. We have about 6” right now. Today was definitely a 1st. We had blizzard conditions. Wild.
89, yes. It also snowed in 2004, it melted as soon as it hit the ground. In 2008 we had some, barely an inch I think. It’s usually too warm, but it’s 26 degrees today.
We had sleet and a snow event in Feb 2021 and about an inch of snow in Dec 2017. It doesn’t happen often. This was a large snow event based on our standards.
