Terrible wording. The whale obviously didn't swallow. It mouthed the person and spit them back out, because they simply can't swallow something that big.
I've been on whale watching ships and I've seen whales from a distance and I visited SeaWorld a few times when I was a kid but, no, I have never smelled a whale spout!
‘Or it was trying to communicate’… wise man. I suspect he will take spiritual wisdom and power from that encounter… i would love to hear him talk about this in the years to come. What a wild encounter.
