Oh no! Someone in my timeline was just talking about the cross over episode of Cheers and St. Elsewhere the other day! I stopped watching Cheers after Coach died, but I always enjoyed the interactions between Cliff and snarky Norm. May his memory be a blessing #RIP
- Hey, Norm, what's up?
- My nipples, it's freezing out there.
Not sure if I remember these quotes correctly (Was it Woody who asked the question?), but the memory of this conversation still makes me snicker. Thanks for all the laughs, George. ❤️
Not Norm… Sad news from Hollywood. George Wendt—yep, Norm from "Cheers"—has passed away. It feels like we lost a regular at our own table. He wasn’t just on TV… he was the comfort. RIP, legend. You were family.

Saw his Broadway debut in '99 in "Art". Why George Wendt rocked as an actor:
In the pilot of "Cheers", Norm was a falling-over drunk, an alcoholic. The brass quickly figured out that was a bad look for a recurring TV character.

That's sad. I met him at Monsterpalooza. Poor guy sat at a table all alone, while there was a ginormous line for Linda Blaire or whoever. I tried to have a chat with him, but he didn't seem in the mood. I guess he was regretting his decision to sit there for the day.
So sad to lose another wonderful person. Jason Sudekis is his nephew. Sending condolences to his family and friends. Rest in Peace, sir. Thank you for so many wonderful moments, and sharing your talent with us. 😞
NORM! Will be missed. I think he said it's a dog eat dog world out there, and I've got a pork chop around my neck or something similar in Cheers once. Absolutely hilarious! He was great on that show. Thank you for making me laugh, George. You will be missed.
He was known for his entrances, always punctuated with a zinger:
Sam: “Hey, what’s going on, Normie?”
Norm: “It’s my birthday, Sammy. Give me a beer, stick a candle in it and I’ll blow out my liver.”
Oh,George was just the most kind, funny, down to earth & instinctual actor in the world.
He did a guest role on my huz’ CBS series & I hung out with him on set for days. He’s way too young!
O no, Nooorm! Such a great and loveable character.
People forget he was also in Taxi, MASH, SNL, Frasier and lots of other great roles in a long career. Sad to see he has gone at only 76. RIP

Angels in heaven: NORM!
Norm: “All four cheeks and a couple of chins.”
Norm: "Alright, but stop me at one… make that one-thirty."
I talked with him briefly in Vegas once at a bar. Pretty good guy.
I'm so glad that I lived in the same time that he did! My condolences to his loved ones.💙

RIP Macaulay’s dad.

I’ll really lose my shit if they take away this iconic actress from that movie.
"Let's talk about what's going IN Mr. Peterson."
"All four cheeks and a couple of chins."
Jesus. People used to look so freaking old. It's crazy.
Thanks for Norm. Rest easy.
Pours one out for George 😔

NORM!
Very sad. 😔
"Hey Norm, how's the world been treating you?" "Like a baby treats a diaper."
May he rest in peace.

- 'Morn' from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, whose character's name was an homage to Norm from Cheers.
"Everyone should believe in something. I believe I'll have an other Romulan ale!" -Morn
My ideal weight if I was seven foot
Norm: It's a dog-eat-dog world. And I'm wearing milkbone underwear.'
IMO the funniest Cheers line ever.
Fly on Mr. Wendt. You did Chicago proud.
