My current domain registrar got bought up/merged and has started charging out the ass for basic features, so I am looking to move ship. I hear Porkbun is well-liked.

i've been using namecheap for the last couple of years and i'm totally down to switch from them, they're good for getting your foot in the door with a domain but bad for literally anything else cost-wise
I use DreamHost and have had their unlimited plan for quite a long time. Haven't had any issues, and their technical support is great when I, say, screw up a DNS entry and bork my email.
I used to go with Namecheap, they're great, but I've since become a big old fan of Spaceship - which is funny, since they're sister companies. But they're pretty great, responsive and their UI is modern. Nice pricing too.
I used to use them back then they were slightly more expensive than the competition but had good service, but am also moving to Porkbun as things expire
Just fyi, the company that bought gandi and increased renewal fees, removed free mailboxes and generally price gouged everywhere they could, is the same company that owns hover— tucows.
Just checked my registrar (Gandi) vs Porkbun, and no surprise I'm getting absolutely hosed on renewals. Sucks how you have to be a deals sicko for everything these days.
I used porkbun for a TLD my usual registar does not have the other week, mostly chose it for the silly name, but their no-nonsense UI and pricing made it a very pleasing experience.
This is just a personal anecdote, but I'd be wary of Cloudflare. I created a Cloudflare account and registered a couple of domain names for future projects, just to try it out. I then logged out. That was the extent of my Cloudflare history. Exactly one month later to the day, I received (1/2)
an e-mail message from Cloudflare that my account had been terminated and the money used to register the couple of domain names refunded. No explanation provided. Sure enough, they refunded the money, but the domain names were lost and they never provided an explanation as to why. YMMV. (2/2)
I would be moving from Gandi and basically using this for just send as/receive as on an existing mail account. I hear cloudflare is good but they are also gargantuan.

i'm on namecheap now and it's FINE, sad about losing what gandi was
* Wholesale pricing
* One-click DNSSEC
* WHOIS redaction
I also strongly recommend their free SSL, CDN, and DDOS protection services as well.
