How do I teach my children to text in complete sentences? Is it possible? Is it worth it? Also how did I get so old that a text like “Hiiiiii” in response to “How are you?” Bewilders me so? Sometimes my daughter simply texts “Slay” for absolutely no reason.

So far, It’s working 😏
IMO and in order: don’t attempt, no but there’s hope: they add real words and even some complete sentences as they get older, no, just go w it, and finally slay is a compliment to whatever was last texted to them
It is a text, not a Masters Thesis.
Or maybe find some Shakespearean equivalent to "slay"
Like, I dunno, "pox rot thine enemies" or something
Child: ma can I hv 20 dollars…..
Me: pox upon thy enemies
Child: ??
But then I remember how much my mom disliked our constant use of "dude" ...
The combination of unfamiliar slang + very different texting norms is a lot.
