One young woman has more courage, intelligence and insight than all the GOP members of Congress combined. It remains the same if one adds Trump and his entire cabinet. 0 + 0 = 0
Capitalism, when properly managed with checks and balances, is the most effective system weβve got. It rewards hard work, drives innovation, and lifts living standards. The key is ensuring it operates as a liberal equilibrium β free markets balanced by fairness, responsibility & protections.
Capitalism is collapsing, because its not managed properly, the Scandinavian social democratic system utilises Capitalism however there is a distribution of wealth from a sovereign fund. The UK us apparently the 6th richest nations in the world however tgat wealth is not fairly distributed
I believe a socialist and capitalist hybrid system is the answer, balancing fairness with opportunity. But as long as billionaires continue to hold the reins of power, that balance seems unlikely to happen any time soon. #LiberalEquilibrium
Iβve studied political science and learned that over centuries, everything has been tried and tested in some form. The best of a bad bunch remains democracy and capitalism. No oneβs saying thereβs no other way, but so far, weβre all waiting for something betterβand it hasnβt come along yet.
One of my best mates is a senior manager for Hugo Boss for the whole of Scandinavia, worker's rights are so entrenched that it is very hard for managers to punish or enforce dickensian rules, everyone of the Scandinavians get a % of sovereign fund, the welfare state, education is free π
Yes, when properly managed is most effective for the ECONOMY, which is not a good metric for measuring the health of a country. Capitalism is also highly susceptible to corruption⦠Corrupt people will not pass anti-corruption laws, and the billionaire class will not relinquish their wealth willingly
Personally, I believe a social democracy provides the strongest foundation. It combines a democratic governance with socialist-inspired policy with an emphasis on workers rights while maintaining a market-economy.
Aside from its structure, the elements that keep it less susceptible to corruption are: strong social welfare systems, economic regulation, focus on equality, transparency and accountability through public access to info, and citizen councils for checks and balances
Iβm not sure what side of the pond youβre on, but in the U.K. we face a huge problem with elitism, driven by exclusive private education that fast-tracks them into roles and privileges. The issue is a lack of opportunities for all. The system must be balanced so everyone has the chance to succeed.
Hard work isnβt just hard labour. You can work hard at retraining, starting a business, or climbing the corporate ladder. Success comes from persistence and growth. Itβs not those earning well-deserved high salaries and paying their taxes who are the problem in society.
I agree thar hard work isn't just hard labour. I've been in upper management in private Healthcare, and a floor nurse. The floor nurse job is far more difficult and taxing - by any measure.
Not doubting her cttment or energy, but sheβll need a hand however going by voting patterns, she neednβt be looking to the βWestβ for that help. We seem to prefer βself-immolationβ.
I applaud her again! π Capitalism: an economic and political system in which property, business, and industry are controlled by private owners rather than by the state, with the purpose of making a profit. The US has 4 more years of Trump and his project 2025 (which he denies knowing about). π
It would save millions of lives. Capitalism causes early deaths. Starvation, accidents, lack of health services, and so many others. Capitalism is simply harvesting cash from the poor.
Overthrowing doesn't exclusively mean squaring up one army against another. You could put another vast figure on the number of people who died ending slavery or feudalism or in establishing suffrage. Whatever figure you come out with is measly compared to the ongoing death toll from hunger and wars.
Yes millions die either way. But how would you go about overthrowing the capitalist system? The middle and ruling classes of the world aren't going to give up their privilege voluntarily are they?
The ruling class might have to if nobody works for them, and the middle class feels the pinch when times are hard. Industrial action, strikes, refusal to fight: there are many ways to bring about change - even through the ballot box in some cases.
The apex of functional capitalism, is 99% of humans struggling to afford food, a place to live and to keep warm/cool, whilst the other 1% travel the luxuriant, ghettoed world in private jets and mega-yachts, walled off from the destitution and destruction they caused.
Beyond that, everyone's dead...

You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete. - R. Buckminster Fuller
I support her. Things are broken, and her generation will be dealing with the mess left by the older generations for her entire life. She has every right to be angry.
Exactly. It would involve millions dying and years and years lost for fixing climate change. Realistically she is talking about violent revolution and dictatorship and communism.
With how absolutely connected and dependent on stability everything is, it would be suicide.
That being said, the corporate greed especially in the USA should definitely have more control and restrictions.
Just imagine how the state of the US economy would be if the oil companies pumping up all the citizens oil in the American country had gone to a government owned company...
Capitalism is all about consumption and greed. It's a system that is unsustainable given the finite resources on the planet. This relentless natutre of capitalism will inevitably lead to the eventual collapse of our environmental systems.

Capitalism has only made the world worse, we humans can do better and the world deserves better
βEverybody gotta learn sometimeβ
Our living standards are decreasing, today, under Capitalism.
The hardest jobs I've ever worked paid the least money. Working in the C-suite was the easiest role I've ever had.
The "lack of opportunity," will only get worse for the working class.
Infinite growth and consumption is a literal impossibility on planet with finite resources.
We need to fundamentally change our society.
I want a world where dommy mommies and communists can live together, in peace.
One Big Hairy Arsehole of a Goal..
As consultants used to call them back in the day..
Capitalism is an ultimately doomed concept...
Itβs Religion.
Good for her more of a boast than an admission.
Beyond that, everyone's dead...
Especially if it only needs to be done, once.

It was inevitable. She's a born Rebel. There's only one thing worse than being a Rebel Without A Cause!
I wish other green advocates had her intelligence.
Easier and safer to try to fix what we have rather than throwing it all and get something new and unknown.
