This is one of the most insane things particularly from MAGA-pilled capitalists in either Silicon Valley or Wall Street. What other economy do you actually want?

They don't give a shit, they're just frustrated that their acquaintances who make 1/10 or 1/100 of them are happy, accomplished people and not subservient ghouls like the dudes they're used to work with.
They don't want to be richer they want everybody else to be poor, to be their prostitutes.
Both WS and SV are perfectly encapsulated by the comments robert downey jr of (of all people) made back in 1993, nobody in their right mind should take these people seriously.
They want to be like their oligarch buddies with much larger shares of a much smaller pie. And if that means the masses are worse off, then all the better. That gives them more power.
They want the one where they have all the money and power and everyone loves them. They don't seem to notice that those are definitely mutually exclusive aims.
This is really it. They see Balaji and Curtis Yarvin’s ideas about the return of company towns (but worse) as the future. Which funnily enough could go back to Trump’s interest in McKinley. Arguably if he wasn’t assassinated, the robber barons with their monopolies would’ve continued to flourish
I think this is overthinking things. The Orange Felon feels that he (we) are being ripped off, in every single transaction ever. But that perception on his part is mental illness, not based in any view of the outside world or in any objective facts. Either he is put down, or we die.
Hungary and Russia are economic basket cases because their corrupt leaders and cronies have looted them. That's why Trump likes them, he wants "his" slice of the American pie
But even by that measure what is the bet. You’re overthrowing the intl order that - among other things - established the dollar as the reserve currency. You want it to be worse to borrow? That’s good for capital? Less free trade is good for your investments? What are you betting on?
Fundamentally they’re betting on being citizens of the world, rich enough to live in a bubble separate from anyone negatively affected by their actions, who are pauperized and will work as serfs for them. They don’t need the social contract. And they don’t care about the country.
It’s the same in the UK where many of the people who argued for Brexit either took their business outside the UK or literally bet against the country on the markets. In that case though they were riding uneducated sentiment for power, and turning that power into money.
Well stated and just seems an insane bet. Leftist populist movements exist, the international order is what makes possible their finances and freedom of movement. It just seems like a crazy bet on there being no downside

They want tech feudalism. They despise the common man. They want them to go back to being peasants.
“How much better can you eat? What can you buy that you can’t already afford?”
“The future, Mr. Gittes!”
