The prices for electronics & non designer clothing in the US have been incredibly cheap for >40 years
/s, but you believed it, didn't you
the shirts were made before tariffs were laid
this is gouging
they'll raise prices again when they start paying the tariffs
Foreign goods become more expensive, causing cheaper domestic supply to be in higher demand. Prices rise accordingly.
this is america
all US thing is $100, imported is $75. tariff raises imported to $150. the US thing will raise to like $130-140 because why not? it's still cheaper and you have a captive audience
The fabric is imported. The buttons are imported. The machines they use to sew the shirts are imported. The maintenance parts for those machines to be serviced are imported.
And the price on all of these things just went up.
And small businesses get crushed because the big companies are buying up all the domestic materials they can and warehousing them, creating an artificial shortage in supply.
There won't be the option to buy US materials without getting into bidding wars with multibillion dollar corps.
what they sending out to people who ordered 4 days ago? the stuff already in the warehouse, same as what they're selling today
this is gouging before tariffs even take effect on their costs
If costs to produce the garment weren't increased before the price to consumers, what would you call it?
Even American-made goods will increase in price because of competitors' price increases.
Plato's Closet stocks lightly used name brands for kids who won't wear generic items.
Just to let you know, the crowd love ya mate.
“He’s the guy who is trying to teach Americans how to dress properly, and you’ll have to get up very early in the morning to catch him out.”
I buy Charles Tyrwhitt shirts for a treat, they don't list it as a weave.
Yeah - nothing says US like UK.
Windfall profit taxes.
A hint for Democrats, should they ever gain power and then decide to actually represent the workers of this country.
Gouging is the capitalist way
I mean, I am one… I just don’t take myself seriously.
There is nothing on the planet that makes a cotton shirt worth $200.
Or even $50.
Are you insane enough to pay that?
The Zapotec word for sheep literally translates to 'cotton-dog' as they didn't exist in the new world until introduced by the Spanish.
The US does not have the agricultural and processing capacity to supply the raw materials.
& you can save the planet a little as we have enough textiles to last decades..
No Tariffs in my
Poshmark store ♻️
Trump’s tariffs are going to hit workers hard for the next decade.

footnote: I thought this was a clever denunciation of trumpian economics, but perhaps my satire is too thinly sliced?
I, too, want an Oxford button-down shirt, made anywhere democracy will allow.
