PSA to drivers: crosswalk creeping is creepy.
The light won’t change faster & you won’t get to your destination quicker by doing this.
It’s dangerous for peds. Just stop at the stop bar.

At least you can report the taxis to the TLC if you catch a photo of it.
Everyone be careful out there.

This driver came to a stop, then continued to inch forward until they were into the crosswalk. I see this constantly and think it’s pretty intentional and preventable.
If someone has to come to a sudden stop due to changes in traffic ahead that’s different, of course.
Yes this is a problem but it’s not always the case and everyone should be careful.
IMO it’s like 10% (90% preventable).
And absolutely we all need to be careful! Car-related deaths are 40k/year in the US w/ 4-5 million injuries.
Again, everyone be careful out there.
The second post is a call to action to collect photos like this showing the need for near side signals (that help ensure drivers stop in the right spot).

I saw a traffic snarl at 46th/Cedar a couple weeks ago, a bus couldn't turn onto 46th because someone was pulled forward across the crosswalk. I wonder if they learned what they did wrong?
But that's not all of it. I think some people just don't like to press their foot down firmly on the brake for any amount of time.
I’ve seen others do this too (esp near 35W on/odd ramps).. inching to check the intersection & run a red.
Esp scary to see bus drivers do it. Ideally they’d be some of our safest drivers due to training, their precious cargo & the threat they pose to others with such a big vehicle.
9/10 times they end up behind someone at the next red and they saved literally no time at all.
