Die Hard is a reverse horror movie, the cast of characters are slowing being picked off by a monster getting around using ventilation shafts, it's like Alien from the perspective of the Xenomorph

I love reverse Horror movies as a concept.
@dan.nerdcubed.co.uk proposed a concept of a 80s Action action movie from the perspective of the villain as the Hero keeps blowing through everything sent at them.
The Fly 2 is somewhat similar as the climax is basically a rampaging monster going around killing people in ways visually identical to most horror films, but in context given everything seen earlier in the movie the monster is the hero and all his victims deserve it.
This has me wondering if it would be possible to cut a trailer for Alien or Aliens that turns it into the story of a misunderstood extraterrestrial just looking for love.
Arnie is the Final Girl in Predator. On the surface it's a sci-fi movie. The characters all think they're in an '80s action movie and we even get a standard '80s action scene. But we're really in an '80s Final Girl horror movie.
It's a brilliant mix of '80s genres. 10/10. Would get to the choppa
The HFY trope sometimes covers this point of view.
Survive life ending injuries
Willingly imbibe poisons (caffeine, chocolate, cappassian, ethanol)
Days without water
Weeks without food
Pursuit predator
Pack hunting
Domesticated predators (dogs/cats)
Screen Junkies had an actual doctor review movies to see how badly injured you'd be if all that stuff happened to you in real life. If you look on YouTube for 'honest action die hard' and 'honest action home alone', you'll see that Harry and Marv die way more times than John McClane does.
Not wrong. But still undermining the writing and motivations of the characters.
Imagined a Batman movie like this.
A bunch of thugs and maybe some big names in the sewers after they robbed a bank or two …
And the Dark Knight is picking them off in the dark, one by one, like it was an Arkham game.
Reminds me of the game of Slasher Flick RPG @rosspayton.bsky.social ran for Roleplaying Public Radio where all the players were 80s action movie villains being hunted by an action movie protagonist.

I approve of this.

Or maybe just No One Will Save You from the aliens' perspective.

And for those that haven’t…. never jump off a roof with a fire hose wrapped around you! Free tip.
