Ubisoft are in trouble, eh?
Ubisoft, the company that released an NFT game in the year 2024, are in trouble? Shocked. I'm astonished.

whatever caused them to flip on that should be examined under a microscope
They're just gaming stock prices; CEO's often get compensation packages that include preemptively false performance reviews...
there losses werent high enough to crush them and all their recent talk hasnt been about improving themselves but to find some big corpo partner to scam without losing control. its all dumb shit by dumb rich families
Its mostly a bunch of execs sucking whatever profit they can out of its corpse
they had so many good licences and still managed to enshittify most of them
Rayman Origins was one of the best games they'd made in years. Legends...a tiny bit less so.
But after Legends tried forcing some player retention with daily trials and stuff failed to net them all the money ever, the IP just got shelved.
Like, the hd port of 3 is lackluster enought that you're better off buying for LESS the complete edition of the original on gog !
I hope they'll do better with Olden Era, but I won't hold my breath.
(btw 5 is the best of the Ubisoft era, and the only one with a functional multiplayer, and 7 is okay)
If they're not careful they're going to devalue themselves so much that no-one will want to.
I miss Ubisoft of the 00s though. Back when they produced interesting, but a little above average games. Splinter Cell, Rayman, BG&E, that kinda thing.
The tech (NFTs) isn't the problem. It's how these companies and "web3 gaming studios" are trying to implement it
That said, their going under will be a disaster for a number of cities worldwide, and put a lot of good developers out of work.
These are all great franchises. Going broke with a great line up is just incompetence.
No way I’m going through all that again with another Ubisoft IP.
Now the industry is just so fucked up that they just abbandoned and now study ingeneering
Might as well play Gmod.
Gamers don't want them to be EA or Activision.
As a teen I used to think everything they touched was gold, and then I realized it was the people not the company that made the magic happen.
That understanding was both sad and liberating.
It’s absolutely bonkers.
Why hello, my good shopkeep. May I please procure one of your finest Champions Tactics Grimoria Chronicles?
(NO, I didn't play it, but I read that story because LMAO)
"Ubisoft" is an adjective now. And not a kind one.
