Remember austerity, everyone lost out, pensions reformed, public spending cut but 'trickle down economics' made sure the rich got richer - where did the £875billion go? Then Brexit, then PPE, then Truss and Kwarteng decided they could bung the rich a few more £billion in tax cuts. Went well not
Come on Adam ….. it is Mel Stride. I would find it impressive if he could walk and talk at the same time.
In truth he should probably be getting misted in the salad aisle alongside Liz Truss
He’s an absolute twat, a typical spoilt brat, fat public schoolboy who’d have been lucky to get a job flipping burgers if not for the old boys network

UK is in financial trouble! Scots need to recognise that we will always be the useful piggy bank for Westminster to dip into when they need bailed out but we will never benefit from our own resources until we manage them ourselves!
Typical Tory priorities 🤑: slash taxes for big business & squeeze the vulnerable by cutting welfare 🤕. Mel Stride's economic pitch is just more of the same trickle-down nonsense 💸. When will they learn that austerity only benefits the 1%? 🤷♂️
Tory "economics" always come down to coddling the rich while leaving everyone else to pick up the tab. And Mark, you’re right, they distract with dog whistles instead of delivering real solutions. We deserve better than austerity and scapegoating. #EnoughIsEnough
Millionaires don’t seem to understand that for them to make money you need people who are secure, healthy, educated, mobile, and have spare money. In other words, lots of good workers and consumers. Sometimes I think these people know nothing. Or are just short term and selfish.
Didn’t they attempt that for 14 years and fail? Albert Einstein is sometimes credited with saying, “Insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different outcomes.” It seems he believes the 15th attempt will be the charm.
The plan is always the same. Get people on shit wages to turn on people with no wages, while sitting back , counting their millions and seething that they haven’t got more.
They’re in hock to their paymasters. Incapable of independent thinking that isn’t influenced by the wealthy’s desire to become ever richer at everyone else’s expense
When will they get real and talk about long-term? I can understand the argument for corporate tax cuts. Not saying I agree with. But I understand. But that's short-term. How will he make our economy more efficient? More productive? Which industries will he focus on? Or is that too much to ask?

"It is understood that Nandy had not discussed the idea of funding the BBC through general taxation with the chancellor, Rachel Reeves, who would be highly unlikely to support a move that would increase the tax burden. Labour pledged in its manifesto not to increase taxes for “working people”
Have you seen the prices of luxury watches, yachts and ski lodges?
How are the rich to afford these unless the poor tuck in their lifestyles and become poorer. ( irony used).
He’s a real original thinker. Imagine the brainpower needed to come up with such an inventive plan.
Who said the Tory party is a tired old institution that has long run out of ideas, and which keeps on recycling the same old policies that the electorate has long abandoned?
I listened to him with incredulity. More money for the wealthy and to hell with the poor/sick/disabled. Reminded me why I didn’t like the previous government. .
Same as they’re doing in the US. Conservatives globally are on the same playbook. They want to not pay taxes, raise your taxes, privatize all public goods/services so they can steal more of your tax dollars essentially behind closed doors, & have the gall to not want to pay you for your labour.
And there you have today’s Tory playbook. Economic policy for the 1%, and social policy to appeal to the racists and hard of thinking, in hope to garner enough votes to get into power.
Stride and the Tories are a spent force. He can say whatever he wants. No one is listening.
The only use for the Tory party going forward is to divide the electorate on the right and for that reason alone I don’t want them to disappear altogether.

… consistently mental!

You have been warned about Project 2025.
He takes every opportunity to lie to Parliament, the electorate, and to the media.

That’s their whole economic playbook. No other ideas.
🙄🙄🙄
Seriously, do these Tory dipshits NEVER learn?
They really are the party of traditional thought. 🙄
Don't watch it!
The BBC is broken, yet the bastards still take my licence fee! 😡

I guess we will wait and see.
