Yep every band has bass and drums and the base is easier to carry. just make sure that they have an amp in every club you play so you don't have to carry that. electric bass is one of The easiest instruments to get started on but making it up to Jaco is a tough one
I had a little kickback amp - loud enough for a small venue worked as a monitor/DI in bigger ones, could carry it on the underground. Best of all no bastard ever wanted to borrow it so I could slip out before the end if the last band sucked.
Well, you’re in or a lot of lower back pain but at least you got job security if you’re any good and if you are any good always remember they need you more than you need them
With string instruments the strings will hurt your fingers for a while. But it'll get better over time and with more practice. Had lots of blisters back when I started playing. Now it happens on occasion but definitely not as painful as it used to be.
it's great because
(a) if you suck nobody cares,
(b) if you're good at all, people are amazed, and
(c) if you want to get super musical, that's there for you too.
Comments
Con: you get put in the back where nobody will notice you.
Pro: if you ever forget what you need to play, you can just play root notes and save the day
Con: uhh... I got nothing.
A: Pay them for the pizza.
I take keyboard.
(I really love the high pitch melodic lines you can do with guitar though)

Why is a great baseline like weeing in a wetsuit?
You get a nice warm feeling, but no-one notices.
