Ive had shingles too. At 24. Doctor kept trying to come up with an alternative diagnosis cuz he'd never heard of someone getting it that young.
mild flu-like reaction to both shots.
Of the three women I know over 50, none had any reaction to either jab.
Better than getting Shingles, my dad got Shingles on vacation at age ~70 and ended up in the hospital.

First, it's great they're looking at both sexes! Then I wondered why the difference and if it can be exploited to make it even more potent?
I got shingles at 18 and while I still have a very long time before I have to worry about dementia, I am nonetheless curious :P
My docs still won't give me the vaccine!
If you had the VZV series as a child, I don’t believe you will need the Shingrix series (since you won’t have the varicella virus living in your nerve cells.
If you did not get the VZV series, had chicken pox, and are under 50, your HCP can write you a script…

as someone who’s been vaccinated with Zostavax, & then with 2 doses of Shingrix several years later…*and* who’s father & maternal grandfather were both afflicted with Alzheimer’s… this is really good to hear!

I haven't seen anything about this but the effect has been extremely noticeable for me
I wish the shingles vax worked for my mom though, she got it after the vax and had has internal shingles several times.

Even as an extremely immunocompromised person, I'm constantly refused both the shingles and pneumonia vaccines because I apparently "don't need them yet". 🙄
Wish they gave the shingles shot to people under 50.
