The president announced Friday that he would remove multiple board members, including the Chairman, who do not share his vision for a "Golden Age in Arts and Culture."

We are learning, in real time, that a lot of different organizations in America don't have anything in place to prevent a President from just firing everyone for any reason at all.
We have a good idea of Trump’s vision of arts and culture and it’s not good: Lee Greenwood, Village People, Kid Rock, young women in bathing suits, JD Vance novels, and anything and everything gold.
maybe not entirely, that playbook worked with a younger leader so they had time for infrastructure projects that people appreciated to build support & cover
the destination is the same but the route is different. currently we have a strong economy so perhaps it was the impetus to strike, level the government.
If he wasn't doing all the other race bating, government destroying, and allowing mass conservative twat sappers infiltrating all government sectors, this is the kind of move honestly I wouldn't mind if he wanted to do as President. He could play his old show tunes and wave to the crowd
I'm pretty sure Trump's "Golden Age" involves his name in gold and gold busts of him and maybe a nice but tasteful portrait of him with a fancy gold frame.
Part of the statement from The Kennedy Center: The Kennedy Center is aware of the post made recently by POTUS on social media. We have received no official communications from the White House regarding changes to our board of trustees.
I read several news articles and not one word of what the Kennedy Center for the Arts could do to fight against Trump.
You would think news organizations with the power to sway opinion would at least mention an alternative to just Trump taking over. But nothing but crickets.
Fast forward 4 years, I predict the headline: “Chairman renames venerated arts institution ‘Trump Center’.” You just know this is his end game, it’s a legacy item.
Can we lead, perhaps, that this is not permitted by the Center's governance? That Kennedy Center is a mixed public-private institution? POTUS has no authority to terminate any board member?
That context is far more important than presenting it as a fait accompli.
The statement from the Kennedy Center says there’s nothing in their governance that says he can’t replace board members but no president has ever done it before. However the chair is elected by the board so he can’t just make himself the chair
The Kennedy Center is our nation’s s arts icon. Donald Trump is the least cultured, most crass individual in our history. This is an insult to Kennedy’s memory and an insult to the arts in the United States.
Germany's "Golden Age" for art and culture was 1924 - 1929 under the Weimar Republic that was wildly free of censorship. Hitler's fascism ground that into the mud. Trump and Project 2025 are hell-bent to do the same.
He is an abomination to the word "culture" and everything it represents in our country. I can only imagine what he'll do with his garish gold decor and Village People music. 🤮 His narcissism has no bounds.
“…Hitler created a comprehensive visual campaign to propagate Nazi values, maintaining personal control over graphic design, architecture, photography, and the public media.”
Tyrant Trump will go down in History as the worst president in the USA !
It makes me sick that he has bullied himself into the Kennedy Center.
What Golden Age - Kid Rock ?
This is just a small part of the #dominionist #sevenmoutains plan. We tried to warn about this decades ago. Few were listening.
It's now known as #project2025.
More of the 14 Tenets of Fascism, disdain for the arts and sciences and claiming that culture is decadent, worse than the past. What is the American version of Wagner? Hee Haw?
How can he just do these sorts of things? Is he a king? America do you want a king from the 18th century again? Seems so weird. Maybe they liked Jonathan Groff too much!!
And it's Bow Down Peasants time already! Be honest this stinks of Banana Republic Dictator. The ugly side of America has returned with a vengeance, has it not?
We're about to see mediocre Hitler level art be platformed like it's something profound. These people barely think or feel so any art that provokes emotional, or makes them question something will be labeled as not patriotic enough
By my definition, “a golden age” is only recognized years AFTER it made its impact, not before. There’s a period after the so called GA period to compare it to. It’s like saying to folks now, it’s time to have fun, damn it. Then you get a bunch of grim people. Then he says, see, they’re having fun.
In the 70's a million kids would surround the Kennedy Center on an announcement like this. Trump couldn't get close and the whole world would see it on the nightly news.
I’m sure he wants to rename it “The Trump Center.” If the center gets enough private donations, can they refuse federal funding and block Trump from ever darkening its doors?
as soon as I read "golden age in arts & culture" I vividly remembered touring old Soviet Monument graveyards in Eastern Europe. Trump, though, is picturing huge statues of himself & children in matching uniforms forced to perform patriotic music for him & showing off America's "superior genetics."
Yes, we all will. Those of us who know how mentally ill he is will have this one little joy. He can’t win ultimately, he won’t ’be there’ even if he’s still breathing and needing regular diaper changes and snif snif to keep going.
If any other President had even MENTIONED wanting to drive the vision for art and culture in this country, let alone take actual steps to do it like this, people would have screamed fascism.
The President is not elected to set a cultural and artistic agenda.
So Felon 47 will implement the "good coloring" award for staying in the lines and selecting the nicest crayons?
Maybe "Exceptional placemat maze solving"? Perhaps " artistic interpretation of explosive diarrhea"?

I’d love to hear that.
Maybe he has a concept of a vision…
White age".
I could so see this happening

Has anyone actually checked to make sure the entire US Treasury hasn't been transferred to Musk?
America really hasn't done enough to make itself look ridiculous.
That context is far more important than presenting it as a fait accompli.
Sound familiar?

Luigi peaked early.
Trump owned the Miss America brand.
Concentrate on it.
