The Great Depression was not preceded by Seven Decades of Planned Obsolescence, which economists do not talk about. 70 yrs before 1930 would be the Civil War! No cars!
Where is the data on the annual depreciation of automobiles purchased by consumers since Sputnik?
That’s funny you say that because gen-z men showed up for Trump in mass numbers. We should probably set aside our difference and stop making this some generational issue or culture issue and start making this a class war issue. #nowarbutclasswar
In addition to the existence of tariffs, we are being thrown one way then another. New rules pop up then disappear depending on King Donald’s mood. Public infrastructure and services are being dismantled. The rule of law is disappearing. This is an awful environment for any business to invest.
At the onset, Trump did not know what tariffs were, he just knew he wanted them, which sounds to me like Putin directed him to impose tariffs. Trump is unable to say no to Putin or Musk. A true leader would protect his country—a leader is something Trump is definitely not.
It’s certainly away to tax a large swath of cult members, I will give you a tax break of a 1000 bucks, but the tariffs will run you 1200. It’s a shady way of screwing over dumb maga. The republicans not only hate liberals but they hate their own constituents.
"Any way you look at it, a 25% tariff is bad economic policy," Witcher says. "There are very few winners and many, many losers from such a policy. Combined with other factors, such as declining consumer confidence, interest rate increases, etc., they could contribute to a recession."

Tariffs are bad economic policy, yes. But this administration isn’t so much playing the tariff game as it’s playing the THREAT of tariffs game. And somebody is making some money on the side.
Parlance wrt China points to trouble. We keep stoking embers. Our behavior toward Nixon/Reagan One China Protocols is abhorrent. We SNB defensing Taiwan any which way. There is a longstanding unsettled Civil War between Main Land and Taiwan. We do not belong in such affairs.
Back then Republicans were the progressive party. Democrats were too busy setting up Jim Crow laws in the South. This isn’t a Party issue. This is a class war issue.
Start with the broader answer: "Any way you look at it, a 25% tariff is bad economic policy," Witcher says. "There are very few winners and many, many losers from such a policy.”
Will he live to the boom that comes after? Probably not. If there even is a boom now that we have a trade war and everyone hates us. Goodbye cheap goods we could sell for more!
I understand that they say that tariffs are the key to motivating companies to invest in manufacturing here, but if there are no overseas markets, having offended our allies, is there sufficient demand here to justify moving manufacturing? What is to stop the world from just trading around us.

Every disastrous calamity of the 21st Century had a Republican at the helm.
Funny that.
