I was born in Newport that has this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newport_Transporter_Bridge and Rendsburg has this https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rendsburger_Hochbr%C3%BCcke and I needed a town in Germany a long way north. So why not put in Rendsburg? (I have been - to visit the bridge of course!)

My partner is from the Rendsburg area and every so often I ask him what is there to do in RD and he goes "idk, the bridge?" So that seems like a good reason 😅

I do take a picture almost every time I go over bc it’s still fascinating to me :)

🇷🇴 CFR - kicks your asses at international booking
🇨🇿 Správa železnic - has a miles better system for sorting out connections than France does
🇵🇱 PKP IC - has better dining cars than SNCF
🇭🇺 MÁV - has a better system for conveying bikes than France

When I booked Marburg–Timișoara via CFR in 2023, I was lucky enough to ask my friend there for help. There was no online ticket option, only printout with reservation code at any Romanian train station or home delivery, Romania only. 😅

I think there is also a booking platform for all train operators being developed right now because they have so many private operators.

Last month SNCF Connect would not allow me to simply buy a Nîmes-Marseille ticket because it involved travel on 2 trains on different regional networks. Had to buy two separate tickets, once I understood what the problem was. For a moment I thought you couldn’t buy TER tickets in advance
