On the one hand, military history has a more even political balance than most history (that is, there are more conservatives there), but on the other hand, every military historian I know, even the conservatives (*especially* the conservatives), pretty much despises Pete Hegseth.

I was repulsed by military history for a longtime because I (wrongly) associated it with people like Hegseth. I now realize that the Hegseth types are basically anti-military historians.

And those folks, so far as I can tell, respect Pete Hegseth functionally not at all.
And this guy has unmistakeable βorder your men over the top because the guy in the next trench over called you a cowardβ energy.
Hegseth's career stalled out before he would have gone through these programs.
A PME purge would be a mass extinction event for the subfield; there's nowhere for them to go.
Uncle Sam isn't paying folks to teach field grade officers strategy because he thinks its funny; these are useful things to learn!
- competent leadership that can keep/drive out invaders & rebuild
- get ousted by spoiled dipshits who only care about being on top
- until invaded & replaced by a foreign power
The military being represented by the dumbest guy you know will absolutely not help.
Toi need obviously some diversity, equality and inclusion!
