I never really understood how they could get a picture like this. It’s cgi right? Like voyager is literally the farthest object from earth so there’s way this is real
It's simply an example to demonstrate scale. The picture is from a telescope of a nebula. The boxes are just there to show how big the nebula is compared to our solar system.
Correct. It's just a representation of our solar system's size in comparison with a nebula that itself is miniscule compared to the rest of the universe.
Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space. Credit to Douglas Adams, still loved and missed.
Damn it, another one?
What's worse than posting something you thought was witty and finding someone else's already done it? Finding out TWO people have already done it.
I love this size comparison. Thank you for this. I don't think I've ever seen our solar system size vs things in our galaxy that we know and love. Cheers!

5he Orville travels at speeds around warp 90. So the trip that should have taken Voyager around 75 years as t warp 9.9 would only take the Orville about a week. Yet the Orville is always at the edge of "explored space" for most of the show but can get back to earth within days. 🤔
HUGE!!! Voyager 1 left earth in 1977. Travelling at around 38000mph it's now over 15 billion miles from The Sun. It'll take around 30k years for it to pass through the Oort Cloud and truly leave the Solar System and 40k years before it is closer to another star than to The Sun. #voyager #astronomy
It's not an actual photo of our solar system, obviously. It's a comparison showing that our solar system would fit in this massive structure. The photo of the pillars was taken by the JWST of course.
