my casual backlog of games i'd "like to get to soon" is 933 games long. i stare death in the face every time i choose what game to play. and then i replay dark souls 2

I only got to 100 or so before I realized I had to stop buying 'cool looking' cheap games constantly.
I have only bought 4 games in the past near-decade or so.
I will still buy a game if it catches my interests and I KNOW I'll like it(watching streams/reviews/etc beforehand).
That's why I keep removing games from my backlog too even though it feels bad every time.
Then again I almost always get an itch to play a game I've already played before so I'll not get through my backlog regardless lol. 🫣

Based DS2 enjoyer, I long thought I was alone on an island fighting for it as the best of the trilogy but I've been seeing a lot more taste in my timeline lately.
at the start of 2024 i made a list of 10 “backlog selects” that i wanted to try and hit that year. i think i played one of them despite still playing 20+ games
Or pirating, it seems.
Although, personally, I only pirate something if I'm not 100% sure I'll like it.
Once I'm 'hooked', I'll go buy it. If it doesn't, I just uninstall and move on. I lose nothing, the dev loses nothing, and the world moves on.
Real answer. Plug those names into a random picker. If it picks game that you're not excited to start either delete it of the list or move to "like to get to at one point" backlog.
The game isn't bad. It's just frustrating if you don't know how to handle some (isolated) bad stat mechanics and how to face groups of tough enemies. The level design, atmosphere and gameplay are all top tier.
Did it upset me more than other souls games? Yes.
Was it fun and beautiful? Hell yes.
Welcome to the VGCC (Video Game Collector Club) where our main mission is to stare at the pretty wall of video game title thumbnails in our Steam collection for hours on end without selecting a single game to play.
I like the idea of playing a new game but in reality I just stick with the games I already know and love. It takes someone who knows my game style well to recommend a new game then I will only consider it. Occasionally I get hooked on something new but it’s rare.
My dream since I was a child is the power to stop time. I would be able to read all the books, play all the games, watch all the movies, and listen to all music I want. Alas… and I still read, play, watch, and listen to the same things over and over like a 5 year old 😅😅😅

900 games deep, that'll never get done and just get more daunting
Refund some of those and then purchase again later at historic discount.
Can't rack up 9XX games in two weeks 😅
and i keep painting warhammer miniatures and watching weekly trash anime.
Also Me: I think I will play my 1500th hour of Football Manager of the year.
These feels, I know them.
I sit down and play Diablo or something every time I play a game. I will never touch those 660 games.
