Hahaha.... He is classically trained. I suspect he sings classical music even better than this stuff, and he is not half bad at this. But my God.... Listen to his use of his classical training to do this!!! He is seriously vocally impressive.
I love love love David Draiman from Disturbed and his rendition of The Sound of Silence, more so than the original! Brings tears to my eyes every time!
Maybe an unpopular opinion: Disturbed’s cover of Sound of Silence is better than the original.
Way, way more haunting.
And I love the original and most of Simon & Garfunkel in general. But just something about Draiman’s style just makes me feel the fear of silence and the darkness it brings.
you have to remember the times of the S&G original, mostly everything in the early to mid 60s was folksy sounding, antiwar/establishment songs of the time were soft. They got darker as the war went on and the civil rights era gained momentum and murders.
Not unpopular at all. It’s the number one answer I see when ppl are asked to name a cover better than the original. It REALLY is. My 78yo MOM even liked it! 😳 And she’s stuck in the 50s.
That's a great description of what makes it stand out for me. Which, given the times we live in, maybe is why I prefer it. My generation vs not my generation, maybe, at least for me.
But the moment of the Simon singing 'and in the naked light I saw, 10000 people maybe more' at Central Park is still the most iconic version of the song.
Wasn't this the version of the Sound of Silence that was paired with all of the images of empty streets and businesses during the lockdown? It was amazing.
This happens to be my favorite version! I have been know to hit the "replay" button more often then one should! Even better when no one is home and I can become the powerhouse he is. 🤣 (thus the reason I only do it when alone) 😊
Extremely talented man and breathtaking video🎶🎻🎸🥁🎹🎵🎚️
Fucking hate anytime I hear this shitty band playing. Fake ass man of peace signing bombs to kill innocent people. Maybe they should try doing something besides shitty ass covers of songs no one wants them to cover. Shitty gimmick radio rock band.
Ah yes. The guy famous for the "domestic violence breakdown" about his mother who did not actually abuse him in real life. He just wanted to be like Korn.
Why do you say he revels in the death of innocents? Assuming you don't think Hamas is innocent and can distinguish targets from casualties. That's a serious, defaming accusation.
congratulations. Do not forget their original albums too.
And when time, check out their solo work KO (Triptyq), Scott Hoying, Kirstin TM, Superfruit, Messer.
Every time I hear his version of this song it gives me chills. It actually makes me so sad I cry. It seems to relate directly to the current situation in America and around the world. We live in terrifying times.
I love his story. He exists because during the line up of Jews at the door of a death camp, people who were going to die, let his 5 year old grandmother crawl through their legs to the back to the end of the line, and that saved her life.
This man has been singing like this for 25 years. Why is he only now being discovered by the general public?
I'm glad I've got to experience his talent for as long as I have.
Enjoy, he sings so many others just as well, and passionate.
Disturbed has made several good hits, their whole Immortalized album is great. Indestructible which is from its own album is likely their most popular track.
This was one of my son's favorite bands when he was still here with me, I listened to them after my son took his life many times since. They are now one of my favorite bands.
Women in Malmø call me the grey Namibian cause I tremendously trecends DAVID DRAINEDMAN I like FRED DRURST can wear the red cap of justice but onlyth me and himeth
No one has ever in the history of music has sang this song with so much power and grace. I get goosebumps every time I listen to this beautiful song. Thank You for Sharing. Merry Christmas.
Sorry (not) but his voice no longer sounds beautifull after being a fan for some time, when i notice him signing bombś to send to end innocent gazans and the way he has no care for human life if they arent like him or he dont like em, ruined my prespective, he cant fight the evil by being the evil ❌
You speak like what h!tler did about jewish children….. a litreal infent who cant speak, cant be one, holocost could not have happend if words like that wasent spoken, your so lost that you forget we are repeating history but you dont care cuz its okey cuz you agree with it
Indeed, David has a unique voice, totally unique, suffice what some may not know he is a mental health advocate, sometimes this might be overshadowed by their music... great post !
We take the audio and put is over a looping video of the destruction of the INNOCENT people in Gaza. The 5,000 infants under the age of 5 who had no idea what Hamas or the IDF was.
I love this remake.
So did Paul Simon, who called it Genius.
What I don't understand is how he can sing like he does 99% of the time while not stripping his vocal cords down to nothing.

All music is soul music.
Time spent listening to music is time well spent. 🤗

The point of the post was to show how unbelievably good that motherfuckers voice is (pretty awesome imo) and not which song version you prefer.
Kind regards.
Everyone else.

Not because I didn't think he could sound like that, but because everyone was surprised like they'd never heard Darkness, Enough, or Believe before.
But just as stunning and beautiful!
Written by Paul Simon and performed by David Damian of Disturbed.
Thank you.

Nothing to be proud of.
Start getting education, poor chap
War protest. Barren emotional communication. See this discussion about the meaning of "The Sound of Silence." https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-song-The-Sound-of-Silence-about-and-why-is-it-so-popular
I didn't know people actually like it 😕
And when time, check out their solo work KO (Triptyq), Scott Hoying, Kirstin TM, Superfruit, Messer.
I love that he brought this song to new generations.
So why does he support the exact same thing happening again to another group?
I'm glad I've got to experience his talent for as long as I have.
Enjoy, he sings so many others just as well, and passionate.
So difficult to share.
Yet we are here
To comfort and cheer
A friend we do not yet know.
Then I listened to it.
Might actually be my favorite version.
And absolutely hated the covers of classics
Imho
Blows away Simon & Garfunkel’s version .
glad for you, but not for my ears.
