EXAAAAAAAACTLY :D The way Columbo just needles and pokes and prods and gets under the killer's skin until something *gives.*

Another thing that makes that awesome are those slight (and rare) deviations in the formula where a KILLER rattles Columbo. The Leonard Nimoy one is nigh-legendary for this.

I won't say I necessarily agree, but at least you're giving Last Salute to the Commodore and The Conspirators a break. Those usually rank among the least liked, though I'm reasonably fond of both myself.

Hell yeah. Watching him work never gets old. Not once do you think, for example, "oh gawd he said the thing again". You WANT to hear the catchphrases, you LIVE to hear them, an episode doesn't feel complete if he DOESN'T say them. He makes it good every single time.
