To see your post at this moment is hilarious (and mildly unsettling): Bunnicula was beloved when I was a child, and just two weeks ago we found my old copy at my parent's house. Then a few days later a cousin reached out about it. I'd forgotten this series for over 20 years and now it's everywhere.
My son loved this book (he would be 41 had he lived, so this book has been loved a long time). He named our ginger cat Chester after the cat in this book.
I think I was 5 or 6 when I got my first copy of Bunnicula (from Waldenbooks, circa late 80's), and my book-loving grandpa was the one who found the sequels for me :)
I’ve been reading this series to my students for over 20 years now! Our librarian always knows when I begin the series because my kids start checking out every James Howe book they can find. I love to see them love reading! Thank you forever James Howe!
Oh man you just unlocked a core memory of mine. In elementary school we made short stories and spent a day telling them. Mine was inspired by bunnicula and I dressed up as a little detective for it
The scene where the cat is trying to pound a steak through the bun’s heart is one of the funniest things I’ve ever read. I first read it almost 40 years ago and still chuckle about it once a week.

…But luckily it was a T bone not a fencepost.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh I loved that book.
They couldn't stop giggling about it.
They’ve since been eaten by the yard rabbits but it gave me a good giggle!
My boys are having a ball with them.
...or was it "HELP HOWLS OUT NOW!"?
Just googled and even the description has me howling. Thanks!!
