Those folks don't have to use those funds in their own elections, they can contribute from their own coffers to other political committees. The money is fungible

On its own, this is chump change. A few grand isn't going to make or break these campaigns. Mostly symbolic support and a signal to others I guess. And then the actual money will be spend on those targeted democrats.
