Haven't seen the last season yet. Enjoyed it but felt it suffered from the American trait of running too long and damaging its reputation slightly. And being based on an even better British show always draws comparisons too.
First 2 seasons, guess that was the original plan & then it just seemed to be extended since it got popular(could very well be how all TV series are planned).
It was all a bit over the top before he was fully exposed. The other shows you mentioned were a glimpse into a world that people could identify with. House of Cards was a glimpse inside the cover of People Magazine and TMZ.
Don’t think it would be on that level but it does now basically get forgotten, which is a shame for the other people involved. It did get increasingly ridiculous though.
It would depend on how the show resolved itself. As it stands, that final season is woeful. Dexter Last Season Bad. And for that alone, the series rates no more than 3 out of 5. But a full contingent with a non-shitty Spacey, probably goes out on a consistent high note. So ... yes.
Nah. Lot of Netflix shows are momentum based. Ozark similar. They have all the trappings of prestige tele but if you take a break you might not go back. The shows you mentioned don't rely on a sense of momentum in the same way. If that makes sense. It's why you can luxuriate in them.
I feel like it fell off/collapsed under the weight of all the double and triple-crosses after the first couple seasons. Sons of Anarchy, while not as good, had a similar problem.

But I think it would definitely be better remembered if he wasn't so rotten.
Very camp and also you can play a great game of where do i know him or her from?
Scandal is fantastic
The queens gambit
And that horrible dumpster fire last season would never have happened.
It was very good for first 2 or 3 seasons. But not in that league.
Now The Shield needs to be in the same conversation as Breaking Bad, Sopranos etc.
